Best thing to do is keep using your 5th ed army, learn the new tactics and find out what does and doesnt work.

For instance my wolves, who i had worried about for 6th, did brilliantly last night.

rune priest (took divination & biomancy), force staff

5 WG (2 TDA, chainfists, combi plasma, 3 PA, fists, storm bolters )

Las & Plas Razorback

dreadnought, asscan, Hflamer, drop pod

dreadnought, asscan, Hflamer, drop pod

8 Gh, MotW, meltagun, dropod

8 Gh, MotW, meltagun, dropod

5 Gh, MotW, flamer, razorback, las/plas

5 Gh, MotW, flamer, razorback, las/plas

5 Gh, MotW, flamer, rhino

they were fightning nids, by end of turn 4 there were 8 stealers, 3 gaunts a prime and 2 warriors left.

Things i would change now- nothing from that game, will play further games to find out more.

Things that tempt me for the future - drop the dreadnoughts for 10 man BC unit with jump packs and a wolf priest.

plasma guns and other rapid fire weapons are better, becaurse you can move your 6" or whatever, and still fire at the full range, 24" for plasmaguns. Also, power weapons has been kinda nerfed, giving some of them ap3, which makes the ap2 of plasma guns more important when dealing with 2+ save models.
You should try using a ten man grey hunter squad with all the bells and whistles plus two plasma guns, attach a wolf priest and give him saga of the hunter. outlflank them and support this tactic with your Thunderwolf Cavalry, Swiftclaws, Skyclaws, Rhinos or Razorbacks. Whatever support units that you use.

I would disagree with that. Better to keep it at 8 or 9 Grey Hunters so you can attatch heroes and stuff them in transports.

I was just giving a different idea with the grey hunter squad than the popular rhino, wolf guard pack leader, 9 or 8 man squad. I still use those squads too, but it sounds like he has used the more obviouis loadouts. But LoneSniperSG is right on with one of the best ways to deliver Grey Hunters.

cover is +5 . with +4 they werent as good. you can stun kill a vehicle in 6th . stun/shake did little or nothing in case of some armies in 5th ed. rest is a others said . more +2sv , change to wound allocation [closest dude gets hit , so it is time to bullet bend around those HQs with+2sv standing in front] , change to rapid fire . it is not that melta is bad . plasma just got better.

as to what to do . you could run 10man GH in rhinos with 2 plas power ax and MotW with totems in rhinos . support them with 7-8 man GH units joined by a WG[termi combi plas] and a HQ[with a combi plas] in a drop pod . while at the same time your fire base is made out of Long Fangs with a RP . fun to play with a lot of options to expand with ally and/or more points played.
