Marshal van Trapp
so while flipping through the BA codex i realized that because dreadnoughts take up 3 different slots (furioso - elites, Death Company - troops, and regular - heavy support) i could effectively make an entire army of dreadnoughts! while i realize now that the hull points rule exists it makes dreads much more vulnerable, i thought it still might be interesting to have several (11 max if you make a 30-man DC squad) of these walking war machines charging down the field to rain death upon my enemy, and with the right modifications here or there i think it could be an interestingly formidable force! BassWave
And now do the math when the foc doubles at 2000+... 22 dreadnoughts ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257104-an-interesting-idea/#findComment-3128409 Share on other sites
Kabal_of_Baal
This is a brilliant, brilliant idea. Aside from the big guns never die (?) mission, would you, lacking scoring troops choices, think you'de be able to table the other guy? pararanger
I ran an 11 Dread list once. It was fun, but drew a lot of fire from all the big guns and unfortunately didn't make it past turn 4. It was still a lot of fun and I'm all for other people giving it a go. Raven Angel
I think the trick would be running it as a Drop pod army BA can do that right? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257104-an-interesting-idea/#findComment-3128700 Share on other sites
Zedrenael
BA are able to run Drop Pod assault and I have had some success in the new edition with that. My list was 100 Librarian 100 Librarian 125 - Dreadnought w/ Frag Cannon 35 - Drop Pod 125 - Dreadnought w/ Frag Cannon 35 - Drop Pod 125 - Dreadnought w/ Frag Cannon 35 - Drop Pod 175 - Dreadnought Librarian w/ Shield and Lance 35 - Drop Pod 175 - Dreadnought Librarian w/ Shield and Lance 35 - Drop Pod 175 - Dreadnought Librarian w/ Shield and Lance 35 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod 110 - Assault Squad w/ Meltagun 0 - Drop Pod I would drop all the dreads turn one to take out anything that I could with the Lances and the Frag Cannons. Then the next few turns try and get the rest of my army in to capture objectives or crack more meltaguns against vehicle hulls to get the frag cannons somethign to eat up.
