Iron Priests

Alrighty, well my friends and I have started to play a campaign. Vehicle damage carries over unless you keep it out of battle for a "round", aka a game. So restoring hull points, repairing weapons and immobilization just got really important and awesome. So here are a few of my questions:

 

1. Saga of the Iron Wolf gives you a +1 to your repair roll. You may purchase up to three servo-arm servitors, each giving you a +1 to your repair roll. In total a +4, so getting a 5 or better to repair becomes automatic. Am I missing a ruling somewhere that says a 1 always fails? Or is GW just taking into account that the unit will take casualties and lower your roll?

 

2. What happens when an Iron Priest takes a thunderwolf and has servitors? I believe in 5th he would be forced to move as infantry, but I'm not sure about the ruling in 6th.
