Gk-Fury's Ultramarine log.

Hi there, so figured I would start posting some WIP shots from stuff I'm working on on here progressing towards a finished Ultramarines army. I started the hobby last christmas around november/december time but had to take some time out due to a dislocated thumb. I chose Ultramarines because theres no shortage of images and inspiration around for a first time serious hobbyist. I've had experience with the Warhammer hobby before probably 8-10 years ago now but never really took it serious. Enough of me yapping on, heres some shots of some terminators I'm working on at the moment.

Terminators all built up and ready to go.

Finished bases I created myself using Sculptiboard that was donated by a friend, finally had something to use it for.

4 of 5 heads I'm using for the terminators, haven't settled on a 5th head yet hence there being only 4.

Quick one to show how the armour will look, this however is a different squad of termies I've done before.

THeres more to come, I'm in the process of photographing everything I've finished so stay tuned for more.

Great looking start. I love seeing well painted Ultras. Are you going to have all your Termies with bare heads?

Yeah the plan is to have them as a retinue for my Chaplain so these guys are having bare heads, the other tactical terminator squad I painted had the standard terminator heads.

Old photo I found of my 1st tank I painted, has had a little bit more weathering done to it with textured paint and some drybrushing since these were taken, got another rhino and a vindicator I'm hoping to finish tonight so will get some pics up when I can.

Took a few photos of my Terminators I finished a while ago today, a little above table top standard for me.

Lovely painting! Any tips on how you did the purple power sword?

Certainly, from memory its GW's Liche Purple base coat, mix black/liche purple and shade opposite sides of the blade as if you were going for a NMM effect. Then add lich purple + a spot of white and blend up adding more white as you go using really thin paint. I actually messed up a part by flooding the area and a highlight dried where I didn't want which you will see in the picture. To recover I simply used an earlier mix and blended back to white in both places. Finished with an edge highlight of skull white which was also really thin and worked up toward to point of the blade.

It was a while ago I painted this model so not fully sure on the specifics but make sure you use thin paint for the blending and what ever colours you use it should turn out ok. .

These are great! If you are looking for CC, I have one thing - get yourself a pin vice, drill out those barrels. With your painting skills, there is no reason not to. It's also very useful for pinning.

I hoped no one would notice, there are some of them drilled and some others not!

Anyways back with an update, I've been away for a week on an intense driving course but I do now have a driving licence! Working on the Assault Terminators and back with a smallish update on the Sargent, managed to get some metallics done and most of the shield but theres some bits I need to touch up. Also finished the crux terminatus which I'm happy with so here you go..

I know some would say there are rough areas here and there but so what? I love the pose and the paintjob.

Couldn't agree more. Despite those rough areas, the models look really good :)

- Very nice highlighting of the termis.

- Great work on those bases.

- Cool free hands, especially the skull on the last one.

- Red Bolters

- Cool power sword !

- I like the faces too, but you could improve the eyes IMO by painting a thin black frame around them.

cheers

PS: I hate smurfs

PS: I hate smurfs ^_^

thats great and all, but what does it have to do with a thread on ultramarines?

'Smurf' is slang for Ultramarines, and I think it's meant to emphasize the OP's skills as a painter all the more since he can make batu, despite his hatred for Ultramarines, thoroughly appreciate these models.

Finished another terminator last night and managed to get some photos today. Changed my photography set up and I think the photos have come out really nice with a few simple changes. Anyways here he is.

Very impressive, nice job on the script. What are you using to get so fine a line?

I use brushes from a company called Rosemary & Co and its their equivalent of a GW Fine detail and watered down Skull white paint. The brushes keep a really fine point so highlights and fine lines are no problem.

Great Ultra Marines, love them all! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks man appreciated :)
