bjoluemblem
I posted a very similar list for critique over on the C:SM thread, and one of the guys asked to see how it did, so here you go. Here's my list that I took to a local tourney: HQ Librarian Terminator Armor, Storm Shield Null Zone, Avenger TROOPS Tactical Squad Combi-plasma, plasma gun, plasma cannon Rhino Tactical Squad Power Fist, Combi-melta, meltagun, multimelta Rhino Elite TH/SS Terminators x5 Land Raider w/MM, extra armor Heavy Thunderfire Cannon FAST Stormtalon w/Skyhammers Stormtalon w/Skyhammers GAME 1 The first game I played was against an IG gunline: Commissar Primaris Psyker Two infantry platoons, one with mass infantry, the other with mass heavy weapons Basilisk Manticore Leman Russ squadron of two tanks both w/S8 AP3 cannons AEGIS DEFENSE LINE! I got first turn, and the deployment was Hammer and Anvil, no night fighting with one objective each. We rolled randomly for cover, and high cover ended up on either end of the table, with almost none in the middle. I set up in cover, tacticals on the right, ahead of the TFC, LR on the left. He castled up behind the ADL, and proceeded to shoot me to pieces. That's how that game went. Not much to be said for it. The ADL provides ridiculous cover for IG gunlines. My stormtalons made quite a mess of his parking lot though, so good times there. I yielded at the top of four, as he had the first blood and the warlord kill. I could have tied it by getting my tacs over and killing his psyker, but the manticore kept them pinned down pretty hard. GAME 2 The second game was against pink orks :o His list was: Warboss w/klaw x2 Nobs in Battlewagon Nob objective holder squad Shooty boys in battlewagon Grots x10 Ork Bikes x10 We rolled the d3+2 objectives, and the triangles deployment. Terrain was pretty heavy all over on this table. I went second. First turn, he was in my face, nothing big happened. My melta squad then blew up his battlewagon, dumping the nobs out, who then had 20 wounds dealt to them by the TFC. Look out sirs and FNP don't like that very much. I ended up getting several deff-rolla attacks to the face, destroying most of my vehicles. The TH/SS termies performed well, pretty much wiping out the bike squad by themselves. My tacticals were basically wiped out by his shooting and assaults, so I lost the game by default at turn 5. The stormtalons didn't really do anything. Couldn't glance or pen the final battlewagon, and one was blown out of the air by a dakkawagon. GAME 3 The third game was against orks as well. Here's his list: Warboss on bike Nob biker squad x2 w/painboys and lots of bling. I lost. Badly. Got tabled on turn 4. I killed the warboss and two bikes due to a yahtzee of ones rolled by him. Pretty much depressing all the way through. d3+2 objectives, triangle deployment. You just can't kill the damn things, especially since S5 is base now. Turn one he was in my face, and turn two had wrecked my rhinos aand assaulted/ completely wiped out my tacticals. The termies died to a slight breeze, and the Land Raider was glanced to death. There you go folks, a sixth ed tourney. Things I learned were that flyers are incredibly survivable, and the stormtalon is essentially an overpriced, hard to hit dakka dread. More tactics to them though. They're a major annoyance for most armies, and they're a lot of fun to use. IG gunlines hiding behind an ADL is scary as hell (that guy took first place). The final thing is that nob bikers are ridiculous. Every single one will get a wound before they start to go down, unless the LOS! rolls go your way. My problem is that I don't always take much S10/ID, so nobs/pallies/multi-wound characters are sometimes difficult for me to deal with. I'll probably start bringing vindis to 6th ed games now. Oh, and my plasma cannon guy is suicidal. Get's hot! = death for him every time.
