Thunderlord w/Fenrisian Wolves

Grimtooth

Recommended Posts

So I am brainstorming about 40k at work right now so if I get something wrong, I apologize as I do not have my rulebook with me.

Thunderlord

Fenrisian Wolves x14

Cyberwolf x1

Now, the turn of assaulting, have the cyberwolf issue a challenge to lock up an enemy character that turn of combat to allow the thunderlord to freely wrecj havoc against the basic troops.

A cyberwolf is considered an upgrade character to the unit of Fenrisian Wolves correct? Can he issue challenges?

Good question. It is an upgraded member of the unit just like a sgt, but the BRB just lists the Cyberwolf as a beast. I would think that the Cyberwolves that run with the Iron Priest are not characters but the one in a wolf pack would be. Therefore being able to issue a challenge.

Gotta agree with Brother Chalx.

I really think we're Rules Lawyering here on this one. I mean, it's a cyber wolf. How's the challenge going to go?

Cyber wolf: "Bark...bark, bark, howl, bark, snarl!!"

Chaos Sergeant: "Um...what? Is he saying something?"

Cyber wolf: "Bark, snarl, snarl, bark!"

Chaos Sergeant: "Um...ok, lets just start shooting or something..."

I'm working on a list that has a Wolf Lord running with 15 Fenrisian Wolves and a Wolf Guard Pack Leader with Oath of the Hunter so they can Outflank. Both are set up with PF and SS and the WGPL is well able to respond to most challenges, especially from tac squad sergeants and the like.

Edit - just remembered you can't put Saga of the Hunter on a cav figure! Damn... :>

Still, the fifteen Fenrisian Wolves make a heck of a meat shield with LOS! rolls for the lord.

You can attach him to the squad and outflank, then just have him run off by himself and let the cavalry and beasts run into the enemy from the flanks.
