HarvDent
We were doing The Emperor's Will with Dawn of War deployment. I set up my objective in a ruins and he did as well. Ultramarines vs. Orks. My Army Librarian 10 Tactical Marines, Flamer, Plasma Cannon, Sgt with Chainsword, Rhino 10 Tactical Marines, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Sgt with Power Weapon, Rhino 5 Scouts, Sniper Rifles, camo cloaks, Telion, heavy bolter Vindicator 5 Sternguard Vets, combi-meltas, Drop pod Stormtalon Gunship, basic loadout Orks Warboss with Cybork body and Mecha Nobs 25 Shoota Boyz with Big Shoota, Nob 25 Shoota Boyz with Big Shoota, Nob 5 Lootas 5 Lootas 20 Grots and Grotherd I won't get too detailed since I don't remember what all happened but here's some highlights: Rolled Warlord Traits: Librarian counted as a scoring unit, Warboss gave me -1 to reserve roll. Librarian rolled for Biomancy, got the malediction that decreases S and T and Hemorrhage. Drop Pod with Sternguard and Librarian landed directly next to Grot squad surrounding his objective. Hemorrhage and Hellfire bolts did their duty against the Grots taking out about half. Vindicator scattered away from the Boyz. Drove up Rhinos toward Warboss. Flamer did its job but my 8 bolter shots on rapid fire... well I rolled 6 1s on 8d6. Whew. Hellfire Rounds off the scout heavy bolter with Telion guiding tore up some boyz! Very pleased with it. Stormtalon arrived turn 2 despite -1 and did... not a whole lot. Killed 3 guys out of all the shots, then flew into Ongoing Reserves. By the end of the game I had Linebreaker, First Blood and held two objectives. The Ork player gave up at the end of turn 3 since my Librarian was too far away for anyone to reach him to give him the Warlord Slayer VP and my troops were all around his Warboss. That was my first victory this edition and one of my few in general! Ming
Awesome job! Sounds like he must have been spread out, if his 50+ boyz lent little to his game. Anytime you can beat horde orks is a happy time! HarvDent
yeah it was awesome, he placed his objective in the middle of the Grots and the boyz were on the opposite side of the map! NoxinWolves
Sounds like his deployment did him in. Interested by using the Sternguard and librarian in the drop pod as I've been considering the same thing. Evidently it worked here but have you used it much before? Also if this was 1000pts you seem over budget somewhat. HarvDent
I was really close to over budget, but dropping one of the Sgts to a chainsword helped with that. I love the Sternguard/Librarian combo. It actually makes the 5 man Sternguard squad more survivable. Originally it was to be used with the old psychic powers, and still could, to drop the Pod, then use Gate of Infinity to teleport around.
