hrafnkel
Yolomofo hellomoto, brothers. I'm due in battle against a person whom I have a distinct dislike. Rude and ungentlemanly conduct in game, meh. Problem is he's on a roll that I would like to stop. I can't recall exactly what he's carrying, but it does involve about lootas, around 15-20 jetpacks, 10 bikes. My list consists of: Njal TWC Lord + 1 fen wolf + ss/th + runic + saga beast 5 WG in TDA: 1 PW/CM 1 WC/CM 1 WC/CM 1 SS/TH 1 SS/TH 1 squad of: 5GH (for home objective) - standard, meltagun 3 squads: 9 GH - wulfen, standard, meltagun, rhino 1 squad: 3 TWC - SS+WC 2 squads of LF i) 4ML + tw HB razorback ii) 4ML 1 Aegis + quad gun, LF squad without razorback will man it. njal's with them. any thoughts? arse's been gloating for ages and this will be my first competitive battle. 6th ed rules apply. thanks brothers. Iacton Qruze
I assume you mean Nob Bikers in his list. The main thing I would do, is get rid of Njal, and use his points to buy 2 standard RP's Take Jaws and another power (maybe murderous hurricane) with 1, take a Div and Biomancy power on the other, and hope for Endurance on the Biomancy, and Perfect Timing or Misfortune on the Divination. That'll make your TWC harder to drop when you engage the bikers in assault, or you can ignore the bikers' smoke cloud (from Perfect Timing) with the longfangs, or if your lucky enough to get Misfortune, make him reroll his successful saves. The Jaws exploits the biker low init, to pop a bunch of them fast. Bait him in with that small GH squad you have, and throw it all at him. You should kill everything pretty quickly if he doesn't make some key DTW rolls, and you pass both your psychic tests. Lootas and Stormboys aren't anything the rest of your army can't handle, you break the bikes (which IIRC are around 600 points before warbosses) and you break his plan. Also, try to get as much of your stuff off the ground level as possible, so that the bikers have very little to plow through. Xeenos
Sounds like a dick, and id save myself the time and just not play with him, encouraging your friends to do the same. You dont have to beat an ass hole, you just have to not play with him and let him sit by himself in the corner. hrafnkel
Hile Brother Iacton, thanks for your sage advice. Regarding that little tidbit about getting everyone above ground level, would I have to do that for my termies and GHs as well? I was planning to concentrate all of my firepower, quadgun, frag missiles, every bit of firepower i got early game into the bikes and holding off on the charge of the TWC, unloading everything until the nobs have been reduced to a safe number, being that they have 2 wounds I think? It seems to me that a piecemeal approach will not work well here. But his stormboys will be quick enough in chasing me down and locking my TWC in combat first. Brother Xeenos, it's not that I have to beat him, I was challenged cos I am new. So I would like to acquit the Vlka Fenryka well. Anyone else have any advice? As always, thankee-sai. Arez
Why not hold your TWC in reserve and have your guys above ground level and shoot the nobs then have your TWC and WG charge them when they get low enough numbers. After that focus on taking down the other guys Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257573-space-wolves-vs-orks/#findComment-3134394 Share on other sites
Wolf Guard Dan
One thing that I learned from Ork players is that they always take the bait. I dont get it, but they do. hrafnkel
@ Brother Arez, that sounds like a good plan, in my rush to study the Ork units that he's going to bring I forgot about my own. I recognise my failings and will be sure to correct it. Thankee-sai. I ought to keep the other GH packs and the WG nearby to shut the jaws of the trap. Regarding challenges I don't think I will accept any other than the TW Lord of course, fluff-wise I think it won't portray my company, The Aesir's Fists as cowards. Foolhardiness is hardly a positive quality, and it'll just taunt him to keep coming close. Hopefully. Thankee brothers. Long days and pleasant nights.
