Organized Tactic Index (Community Project Help needed)

Welcome to the Organized Codex Space Marine Tactic Index. I am starting this project to make it easier to browse Codex Space Marine tactics for the community. This thread will be updated daily to ensure up-to-date tactics and information based on the real feed-back from our community on said Codex. I will be creating a list of all the units in the current codex, in a certain format, which I will be counting on the rest of the community to help me fill in with much needed information.

 

What I want my fellow players to post in this thread is any information regarding any unit/war-gear/tactic/etc. concerning Codex: Space Marines. As information is posted to this thread (in the format I specify) I will update the entries accordingly. Please refrain from discussion of why or why not to pick a unit, this thread is for information cataloging purposes only, not debate. I make this stipulation only to keep the thread manageable and easy to browse. All current information will be in the first few posts thus eliminating any need to browse multiple pages.

 

Please remember that this tactic index begins and ends with the idea of competitiveness, while fluff is valued, it is not essential in this thread. I do realise that there are many differing opinions on a myriad of subjects to be discussed, I will try to be as fair as I can about selecting information to be put into this index and I will generally put what ever gets posted into the index unless strong information IS PM'd to me about why certain information may be wrong or incomplete. I invite any and all Codex: Space Marine knowledgeable players to help me in the creation, continuation and preservation of this thread. No tid-bit of information is too small to mention. Please keep all posts within said format, lean and to the point.

Please refrain from using acronyms, spell out what you want to say regardless of how long your post is.

 

Remember this index is no substitute for your codex. Its purpose is to go deeper into the tactical advantages offering you insight into your army that your codex may not be able to do, through the experiences of others.

 

A brief run-down of the jargon to be used in the thread,

The definition of the word Optimal for this thread is best or most efficient use of said unit/war-gear/tactic/etc.

Carrier is the unit to be equipped with said war-gear.

Target is what potential opponent said war-gear/psychic power will/should be used against.

Optimal Points Cost means at what points level said war-gear is priced appropriately for its expected job.

Optimal Options: Terminator armor remember Power Weapons cannot penetrate it, Remember he also comes standard with a Power Weapon, which can help out if challenged by a Power-Fist character or its equivalent.

Optimal Strategic uses for: Making army choose to pass or fail morale tests. Close Combat proficiency. He is a super powerful character with rules that affect your entire army. Terminator armor incorporates a Teleport Homer and it is helpful when deep striking Terminators near him for boosted support(needs orbital bombardment expansion)

Most effective combination with different unit: If using allies then escorting Space Wolf Wolf Scouts to give more flexibility in where it arrives on the table. You can use that flexibility to get behind an enemy flyer and it will struggle to get you in its arc of fire to shoot back Alternatively anything you are keeping in reserve, to avoid it getting attacked by enemy flyers, can be escorted so your Stormtalon can take a shot at them before they can hit that particular unit. Always try to kill enemy skyfire weapons before your stormtalon(s) arrive but particularly anything with the interceptor rule (fortification based emplaced weapons for example).

How best to use the forces of Codex Space Marines to vanquish your foes. Please describe the compostion of your force without giving point values for individual units and wargear. A total point value and unit list for your force is acceptable and will be put into the index as long as it is accompanied by a title and brief tactica on how to use said army in certain conditions. Please make sure lists are legal. Im looking lists with optimal competitivness, so please refrain from posting unless your list has won you a fair amount of victories.

Space Marine Gun-Line 500 Points
