mdaro
Anyone have a good source? War store doesn't even list them here in the states. I want to equip a Vet squad with three. I have some SW ones but the have fluff all over them. I was thinking trying to trim some off a termie hand/arm....not sure how that would look. Has anyone done any kind of conversion for their vet squad? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257786-storm-bolters/ Share on other sites
Brother Immolator
Not for a vet squad specifically but, i had filed two bolt pistols and strapped them together. Then filed off their handles and everything else except the casing and barels, then placed used one butt as the middle section and one handle in the middle of the butt. You will be surprised how effective they look. You will end with something like that: http://fc04.deviantart.com/fs12/i/2006/323...by_Orgun246.jpg Alternately you can try with regular bolters but i find them to be too big. mdaro
I ended up ordering terminator storm bolter arms and termie honor shoulder pads from the Warstore. I'll cut off the termie arms and see how they come out. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257786-storm-bolters/#findComment-3136761 Share on other sites
Aradiel
i converted a few vets with terminator storm bolters. i just cut the storm bolter away from the hand and used it like it was a bolter. the power armor right hand already has a grip, you just need to open the left hand a bit and thats that. i also used a few bolt pistol arms for one handed sb shooting i grabed this pics from the web, they are not mine, but they give a good idea of how things end up http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/Doghouse12/Picture084.jpg http://unforgivenangels.files.wordpress.co...w=460&h=345 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257786-storm-bolters/#findComment-3137008 Share on other sites
Adeptus-Alaska
what I do is take two bolters, cut at magazine well, trim 2 grip ridges off, shave 1/3 of opposing sides, glue all pieces together shave the detail crap like sights etc off the top, glue thin plasticard on top, and liquid GS to blend seems. when done I glue a sight post from earlier or an offset scope. when Im feeling froggy, I will put a sling from the AoBR tac guys for some detail. I'll try to post a full tute later, this'll be my 1st one so be nice(as if I have to say that). Arthanor
The space marine commander sprue comes with a storm bolter for power armor, if I remember correctly, which you can buy online (ebay has many, although they're not super cheap). You can probably ask other SM players you know for a trade as it's not all that likely to be used for the commander (or any other unit, really...) Bryan Blaire
mDaro, IIRC, the DA Terminator Storm Bolter is the same size as the Commander box Storm Bolter. I'll see if I can't get a comparison photo tonight for you. It should work fine to cut/clip the SBs off Terminator arms (if you have extras) and then mount them on arms with the bolter grip. If you want a two point grip on it, you may need to play with the position of the shoulder attach points and the fingers of the steadying hand as well. I take the easy cheater way out and just use bolt pistol arms for conversions like that though. Adeptus-Alaska
Allright mDaro, this is for you! first, two bolters(duh) http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_151539.jpg these next 4 are step by step with the cuts(hopefully an explanation isn't neccessary) http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_151747.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_152054.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_152244.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_152929.jpg now glue em together. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153243.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153308.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153316.jpg with sight post cut off earlier. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153514.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153536.jpg and here are two comarison shots. one is this method, and the other(white) was my original way. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_153845.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/20120801_154040.jpg as you can see, the original design was a little too epic. it looks amazing on a termie, but cumbersome on a PA. I didn't go all out with this, just something I knocked out in 5 minutes or so. you can really go all out with it to. i hope this helps. Arthanor
Yeah the ebay are ridiculous ($6.00 apiece !?!?!?!) and none of the big bitz stores in the US had them. That's why I mentioned trades. Bitz stores sometimes are a bit off.. I can't believe that there would be such a high demand for PA storm bolters... as you can see, the original design was a little too epic. it looks amazing on a termie, but cumbersome on a PA. I didn't go all out with this, just something I knocked out in 5 minutes or so.you can really go all out with it to. Epic indeed :) But the idea is very cool, for something put together in 5 minutes, it looks very good and more like a weapon than some of the GW storm bolters with big casings. Now I just have to find a unit that works well with storm bolters... :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257786-storm-bolters/#findComment-3139366 Share on other sites
HvitrValdyr
The Space Wolf power armour storm bolter has 3 wolf skulls on one side and a tail underneath. Its a simple cut with a hobby knife to remove those, leaving you a blank canvas to attach/paint other symbols. I used those for my DIY SM chapter. Stormmbolters should be oversized for power armor. I'm going to put a couple of these together!
