Obinhi
Ok, so I have just taken first place in a local tourny with my Orks (lots of meganobs is boss in this ed by the way) and I feel like that army is done and done. So after much soul searching (some of you may have read my ditthering about wether or not I should take Black Templar) I have decided to take wolves! So after my victory I used my store credit to buy some Marines and below is what I gots. 1 dude I want to have as a ruin preist 4 dudes who will be wolf guard with various war gear 17 guys who I think will be blood claws 8 long fangs 5 grey hunters +1 squad leader I also have a box of tac mariens and one box space wolves to build. MY QUESTION IS THIS: What should I do with the 17 guys that are un spoken for in the unbuilt boxes? I want to build 3 more rune preists because we have alot of hero hammer in the local scene and I think that jaws of the world wolf would take care of that nicely. I can also just say that they dudes I build as rune preists count as wolf lords or wolf guard as well if I dont use all 4. The vision for my company is real close combat oriented with as few vehicles as I can take. I want to inflict this condition upon my self because my previous 2 major armies (IG and Orks) are very vehicle heavy, a mec vet parking lot and a kan wall respectively. I am open to transports and maybe a flyer or two for anti air, but that is it. I also want to avoid TDA as much as I can. I have a real soft spot for blood claws and I want to be fluffy with my org, so that will be two blood claw packs for each long fang pack I build. I am open to comments. truesonofruss
If your going for Fluffy then I would say get a good solid full sized group of Blood claws(since you love them so) with a wolf priest. If you are planning to tourney them what so ever I would highly suggest switching out the Blood claws for Gray Hunters as they are by far the best Troop choice in the game IMO. Long fang wise you can have groups of 5 with heavy weapons plus a leader While I hate Missile launchers for some reason they seems to be a really good way to deal with both infantry and vehicles and hopefully in the future flyers as well. In the feeling of fluffiness though I think two groups of 15 Blood claws sounds awesome, their reduced stats but similar price to gray hunters makes it a sad thing but maybe that will change in the 6th ed codex. I might consider a little TDA for your wolf guard as they are awesome and also very fluffy in nature. As well maybe a Thunder Wolf Cav group of three or a Wolf Lord On Thunder Wolf Mount. Reading through your post I was a little confused as to some of your ideas 5 grey hunters +1 squad leader We don't have squad leaders per say we have wolf guard that break off into individuals in order to lead as squad leaders do. Did you mean that to be long fangs? Either way I can see a lot of potential fun coming out of this list and hope you keep this up to date as you paint and create this list into life. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
'Rune" Priests certainly do 'RUIN' your opponents day, this is for certain!! ;) Welcome to the Fang brother. It's a proven fact that Grey Hunters are better all around then Blood Claws. But I suppose if a footslogging hoard-esque build is what you are leaning towards, don't forget a Wolf Priest to keep 'em in line!! Not to be a dick, but the codex actually says squad leader in the heavy support entry for grey hunters. Anyway, like I said above I want to make this a fun list. I know I can win games with the orks I have done up, so thats not going to be the goal here. That and there is a special thrill in beating someone with a non meta, not a power list set up. I will be getting a hold of some more long fangs, my buddy is looking at selling off some tac marines so I may pick them up. Grey Hunters are our version of Tactical Marines so thats a troop, you're thinking of Long Fangs(Devastators) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257800-starting-my-great-company/#findComment-3137055 Share on other sites
