Lone Wolves

So considering the changes to the feel no pain rules lone wolves are seeming a lot more effective than they used to.

There are two possible lone wolves im considering and could use some advice.

1st :- Storm shield, MotW, melta bombs

OR Storm shield, Frost Maul, Melta bombs

OR Storm shield, MotW, melta bombs, Frost Blade (of any type) -- More expensive but can choose which weapons option

2nd :- Terminator armour, L Claw, Chainfist -- planning on using the Tyberios model as a base for him.

I wanted something other than the classic Termi with CF/TH with a SS. Comments welcome ;). Thanks.

1st :- Storm shield, MotW, melta bombs

Won't work. MotW negates the ability to use Melta Bombs

OR Storm shield, Frost Maul, Melta bombs

Won't work. There are no "Frost Mauls". Check the FAQ, there are only Frost Axes and Frost Blades.

OR Storm shield, MotW, melta bombs, Frost Blade (of any type) -- More expensive but can choose which weapons option

Again, won't work - MotW will negate both the Melta Bombs and the Frost Weapon.

2nd :- Terminator armour, L Claw, Chainfist -- planning on using the Tyberios model as a base for him.

This one is doable, but expensive (75pts). For 10pts more you can have a PA Lone Wolf, 2X Plasma Pistols, MotW, and 2 Fenrisian Wolves.

75 pts for a 2+/5+ FNP model with 3 attacks which you can choose to be S8 AP2 double penetration on Ini 1, or S4 AP3 reroll to wound / hit on ini 4 vs 65 for a 3+ FNP with 2 plasmapistol shots and 1D6+1 S4 rending attacks on ini 4... I'd go for the 75pts one. for only 10 pts more you get a model that can be thrown at anything (and I do mean everything) with a fair chance of killing it dead.

Depending on what I am facing I use LW in TDA w' SS and CF OR x2 WC. The CF/SS model I use for Mech hunting and the WC model I use for character hunting. I have had great success this far in my 6th ed endevors at my LGS. The SS/CF guy is expensive but I have a guy who plays heavy IG mech armies and I ran two of them one with one Wolf one with 2 wolves and they decimated his armour. Plus he took a lot of time attacking them and nothing else so i was able to move my LF packs up and decimate what was left. The WC guy usually hunts warlords and HQ's and attacking at I and getting the rerolls makes him a terrifying force to be reconded with. If nothing else they draw fire from the rest of my army long enough for them to get in place and become destructive.

I honestly think the best config these days is this:

Lone Wolf, TDA, CbP/Fist = 60

Keep it cheap, very cheap, cheap enough that you can throw away but it'll still be a pain for your opponent. The cheaper you make it, the less likely your opponent will care, and the more he'll regret later once he adds another WS5 PF into a fight who counts as his own unit, is Fearless so he'll be stuck in combat, has 2+/5++, 2W, FNP and EW.
