Azekai
By the Dark Gods, that was FAST! Looks very unkempt and messy, without crazy tentacles or spiky bits. That aquilla could probably be a bit more defaced though. :) Also, I'd just like to say that I really like how those termies look- the tac helms are interesting and the poses are inspiring . . . are those AoBR terminators or are they from the plastic box? Either way they are superb. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3142374 Share on other sites
Circus Nurgling
Wow man, you're painting these up pretty quick! Effective use of the brush, too. Are you using an airbrush or traditional? Fullbrook
Really? to me that felt like ages, my times are all messed up been doing night shifts lately cant tell time anymore :D They are mostly AOBR bodies with normal terminator chest plates as the AOBR ones have the heads already attached, Tbh i'm not shure about the one with the chainsword in its hand. http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/S7003285.jpg I just use normal brushes, wish i did have an airbrush I have a habit of ruining my brushes :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3142992 Share on other sites
jam
love the work so far how are you doing the dirt caked weapons? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3143056 Share on other sites
Fullbrook
The rust is just calthan brown drybrushed with snakebite leather with another lighter drybrush of fiery orange washed with devland mud. Had to change that terminator the weapon was really getting on my nerves so i changed it to a normal chainfist the same as the others. Hopefully get some of those finished today. Circus Nurgling
The rust is just calthan brown drybrushed with snakebite leather with another lighter drybrush of fiery orange washed with devland mud. Sounds like the old GW method of rust. Very familiar. Fullbrook
Probably where i learnt it cant remember now :( Got three of ther terminators ready the other three are part complete so hopefully not too much longer..... http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC3.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC2.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC1.jpg I briefly considered painting them completely rusted because i remembered that terminators from the death guard in the heresy era were iron coloured but thought that they wouldn't go with the rest of the force very well, may still change my mind at a later date, views? Circus Nurgling
You're going to have a nice, effective, fully painted army soon. Something to be proud of. I'd just paint them to match the rest of your force. They don't look like pre-heresy termies anyhow. At a later date, I'd convert up some pre-heresy ones and paint them like that, or convert your termie champs to pre-heresy and give them a ton of rust. Jay Taint
Good you've changed the close-combat weapon. It really wasn't bad before; but now it's so much better and really cool. Now you've got a fine filthy terminator there! Keep up the great work, I'll follow! I'm wondering if that's Citadel Texture paint you've used to get that gritty surface? Cheers, JT Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3146245 Share on other sites
Fullbrook
Yeah the chainsword was really bugging me becuase it didnt really fit in with the other models looked more like a worshiper of khorne, Yeah the basecoat was stirland mud one of the new texture paints. Three more terminators complete, just one more model to go before my vow is complete! http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC6.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC5.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGTC4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3146379 Share on other sites

Fullbrook
Plaguebearers coming up am going to paint them the same way i painted Necrosius's leg and arm. http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGNC4.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGNC3.jpg I'm going for a kind of bruised jaundiced flesh look. Fullbrook
Plaguebearer test mini completed. http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q538/fullbrook3/DGPBC1.jpg Pretty pleased with how it's turned out. glad the way i did Necrosius has transferred so well to a bigger surface was worried the surface area would be too big for the washes to really have any real effect but i think they turned out ok, views? Fullbrook
I have ten so will be painting them all will divide them up into two lots of seven when i get another box (use the spare ones for conversions on my marines) Not painting the rest just yet am adding parts to my DG from the PB box (blight grenades and nurglings) really want to get the nurglings on my DG to tie the daemons and marines together because when i put the models together they don't really gel. hopefully that will work.... Captain Semper
This is terific job Fullbrook! These are some scary demons there... Plaguebearers are usually borderline funny but yours, oh boy... Love the Termies too. I really like your style, do keep it up! Circus Nurgling
Interesting take on the eyes. Very leaky. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/257850-death-guard-army-project/page/2/#findComment-3152911 Share on other sites
Cyrl
Really liking the look of your plague marines, they still appear... functional? They don't seem to have lost all that they once were before they fell to Chaos. I wanted to ask how you used the stirland mud - did you dilute it at all or just apply it from the pot to the armour? Fullbrook
Circus nurgling-Yeah I know Necrosius was a bit of a rush job because of the vow, will eventually go back and get him cleaned up (Nurgle wont be pleased at that) Cyrl- I dont dilute it at all I just get a small blob of the grit on my brush and spread it until the whole model is coated, if there are any lumps of it that are to big or blocking some detail i just scoop it out with the brush. Have to be quite quick though it dries really fast! Hopefully get three more PB finished by tomorrow. Circus Nurgling
Was actually talking about the plaguebearers. Necrosius' eyes don't look bad, either. Eyes are the last details I usually mess with. Chaeron
Only criticism would be on the older work, whilst the job is effective and expedited, you may wish to go back and pick out a few more details - because otherwise it does just look a bit table-top and bland for my taste! Fullbrook
Chaeron- I can definitely see where your coming from the land raider and terminators were just to keep me busy while i waited for Necrosius to turn up so I never really did any conversion work on them i'll definitely be going back to those later in the month when i've run out of Plaguebearers. Speaking of which I am very happy with the Plaguebearers which I promise myself WILL be finished tomorrow........
