Menathorn
Hello, After looking at the forgeworld Contemptor Dreadnought and reading the rules for the SW one in Imperial armour apocalypse second edition, I felt a keen need to add one to my force of wolfs. ( http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-4000...OUGHT_BODY.html ) The fluff behind my force will be of a company lost for millennia, since around M32, and therefore having access to a great number of “old” tech machines. I will have a WP mounted on a Jetbike, model my bikes as Jetbikes ( http://fromthewarp.blogspot.se/2010/02/how...y-imperial.html ). And I was thinking it would look cool with a Contemptor; what are your thoughts? And do you think I will be able to play with it at all? (It is approved by GW rule wise). And would it, be playable in 6th edition or is the dreadnought completely nerfed? Best Regards Menathorn Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258038-is-the-contemptor-dreadnought-worth-it-in-our-army/ Share on other sites

Arez
if you like the contemptor but arent sold on the rules you could always run it as a ven or normal dread Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258038-is-the-contemptor-dreadnought-worth-it-in-our-army/#findComment-3139536 Share on other sites
Lord Bearer
I bought a Contemptor last Christmas. I really like it. I play it as a Ven Dreadnought. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I have two body's on their way to me right now that I plan to use as a regular dread and the relic as a ven dread. I haven't bought the arms at this point. I am still on the fence in regards to how to kit them out in 6th, which is why I was waiting to purchase them. I say use them, they look so cool!! Especially in an army full of TDA!! ;) End of Line Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258038-is-the-contemptor-dreadnought-worth-it-in-our-army/#findComment-3139686 Share on other sites

Hagamar
Seeing more Pre-heresy art I can see why you would want a Contemptor... My thing is that you have to pose him like if he was walking to get the perfect look for them if not they simply look like tabletop tower due to their size. For the bike you would need to find something else for the front look or maybe allies yourself with the Dark Angels to get some Ravenwing on the table 'Link'... ? In all case I think the Ravenwing would give you more fun in built's vs taking parts from bikes (Might need to wait for them to pop new one out before chrismas tuff... doh.. brrg.. Fallen Angel speaking). ;) ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258038-is-the-contemptor-dreadnought-worth-it-in-our-army/#findComment-3139824 Share on other sites
Menathorn
I might check and see if I can't add wolf heads at the front of the Jetbikes, since an alliance with Dark Angels will not be as battle brothers. Do any of you know when the rest of the arms for the Dread are coming? At the moment there are like three types of arms, and I would like to be able to play with it within a close future. (IE using weapons that will be ok on a 200pts model). And I have been looking on adding Tartaros Pattern TDA, just need to find the need for terminators in my list... Wait, what am I saying? ;) ( http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/TART...TOR_ARMOUR.html ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258038-is-the-contemptor-dreadnought-worth-it-in-our-army/#findComment-3140037 Share on other sites

Menathorn
What would be a good build, in-game for the Contemptor then? I am thinking AC, and when I have the points add in the shoulder mounted ML together with WT and WTN. What are your suggestions? Russ Brother 92
I'd suggest *he does so whilst rapidly looking through the Apocalypse 2nd Edition book with contemptor rules* if going with Saga of the Iron God, have Cyclone, WTT, WTN, Heavy Flamer (in-built) and either the Multi-Melta or Ass Cannon. if going with Black Cull I'd go for two DCCWs both with flamers, and if going with Forsaken One I'd go for Plasma Cannon, mine admittedly rest on which Night Saga is taken... Otherwise I'd suggest an Assault Cannon, Plasma Cannon or Lascannon much the same as a normal dread - though I'd always try to fit the Cyclone in points wise as it's too good to pass up imo. Elazar The Glorified
Yeah, Furious Charge is useless on the Contemptor Dreadnought now. I think the Counter Attack one is probably going to be the most reliable one now as then you'll get to make a few pot shots on the way in with the Assault Cannon and Krak missiles and then get counter attack - but if you're up against Walkers then that one will have some use I suppose. Russ Brother 92
One I'm looking to invest in is an allied Mortis Contemptor as it has the AA-Ability which ofcs now = Sky Fire USR, for a mere 155pts, it comes basic with two twin-heavy bolters but you can change them to most others; multi-meltas/lascannons/assault cannons/plasma cannons and autocannons, and give it a cyclone - all of which benefit from it AA-Mount Rule, the only downside is that to utilise it you can't move the dread.
