Who will you be? Build-a-hero

HERO

Recommended Posts

Here's a little game that's both fluffy and fun.

I had a talk with one of my friends on who I would be from any codex in the 40K universe. The only rules are that you must be able to build him from a 40K codex allowed for full discussion here at the B&C. I think our next step is to physically build the model and paint them for use in our games. That way, you can actually be on the battlefield!

Here's me..

Wolf Lord, Runic Armor, Belt of Russ, Frostblade, Plasma Pistol, Wolf Tooth Talisman, Wolf Tail Talisman, Meltabombs, Saga of the Warrior Born

For now, don't write the points out on your dude.

Why? Because there's a Part II coming to this exercise that you guys will love.

Hi, I'm a Wolf Lord. Who are you?

I'd be a...

oh, wait... 40K... only codex I really know is SW, so Wolf Lord with Runic Armour, Frost Axe, Plasma Pistol, Belt of Russ, Wolftooth Necklace, Wolf Tail Talisman, Saga of the Bear, 2 Fenrisian Wolves called Vasjel and Zeure and a Thunderwolf Mount called Kano; who unfortunatly prefers sleeping over rending...

can we "upgrade" our armour with fluffyness? a fishingpole with a piece of roast elk, to guad Kano into action

I would be a Wolf Priest in TDA with Plasma pistol, Melta Bombs, My super awesome Wolfy Crozius, Wolf Tooth Necklace, Wolf Tail Talisman, and Saga of The Warrior Born.

I won't lie there is a small part of me that hopes this turns into a build this guy as a model cause if not I might just end up doing it anyway, I kinda sound bad ass... :D

I'm honestly torn.. the Rune Priest is my all-time favorite unit in 40k, but my personal view of myself is more in line with infiltration. Sadly, I can't make a character as I see it, so I'll compromise with this:

Wolf Guard Battle Leader with runic armor, frostblade, (stalker pattern) boltgun, wolf tail talisman, 2x fenrisian wolves, Saga of the Hunter.

In light of the new rules, I'm revising this (if allowed) to the following:

Wolf Lord

-Saga of the Warrior Born

-runic armor

-thunderwolf mount

-belt of russ, wolf tooth necklace

-plasma pistol & wolfclaw

-2x fenrisian wolves

I shall be meself, the mildly crazed wolf guard, brandishing many weapons of war primarily a nice big axe, frosted if I can beg/borrow/steal one on the eve of war, along with my own combi-melta "Lassy" because she always makes the sheep go where I want them :)

Most often seen either at the sides of the enemy force, scything them down with precise bolter and melta shots or in the far dark corner of our delightfully grim tavern running the bets for the evening's brawls and generally running the monetary side of things :tu: think loan shark with a bigger gun ;)

I know it isn't what you asked, and it is a good few years old with out update and I have no real knowledge of the current 6th rules but:

ULLR DIREFANG

Ullr Direfang WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv

6 5 4 5 3 5 4 10 2+/4+*

Points: 295

War gear: Bolt Pistol, The Dire Wolf Hammer, Runic Armor, Belt of Russ, Frag Grenades, Melta Bombs, Wolf Tooth Necklace, Saga of the Bear.

Special Rules: And They Shall Know No Fear, Independent Character, Acute Senses, Counter-attack, Blank, Massive

Massive: Ullr is large even for a Space marine. He rivals the legendary Wolf Guard Ranulf in Size. He counts as two models for transport purposes.

Blank: Ullr Direfang is a very unique individual for many reasons; there are very few individuals in the whole universe with his most unique attribute. He is a blank, and warp energies are barely able to affect him or anyone close to him. This is very useful against enemy psychers but it also affects friendly units. Fortunately the Runic armor Ullr wears helps lessen the effects. All psychic tests taken within 6" of Ullr test on a Ld of 7, unless their original would be lower. Also friendly units may become overwhelmed with nausea. All friendly units within 6" of Ullr must pass a normal leadership (they cannot use Ullr’s Ld) test. If they pass they may act as normal. If they fail, they move as though in difficult terrain, for both normal moving and assaults, and in if they are in combat they only hit the enemy on a 5+ regardless of their weapon skill, unless it would be worse normally. Ullr has been like this his whole life so is unaffected by its ill effects.

The Dire Wolf Hammer: This hammer was a weapon of opportunity when Ullr Direfang was defending the bridge of “The Spirit of Geri” from the Thousand Sons. After being Cleansed by the Rune Priests and re-forged by Iron Priest thought it fitting for the new Wolf Lord, it was named The Dire Wolf Hammer, and named it for Ullr’s Strength. In the game the hammer counts as a one handed weapon, and grants Ullr +D3 Attacks and +2 Strength and it counts as a power weapon. The might of the hammer can seemingly inspire those around it, at the start of each assault phase (both player’s) roll a D6 and consult the table below:

Dice Roll: Effect:

6 Ullr Direfang and any unit he has joined, gain an addition +1 attack (this stacks with all other bonuses, two close combat weapons, charging, Mark of the Wulfen, etc.)

5-2 The hammer has no effect on Ullr in any way.

1 Those around Ullr, including Ullr himself, are struck in awe about how the fight turned out and are caught flat footed. If the combat was won by Ullr and any friendly unit involved in the combat, they are unable to make a sweeping advance and the enemy unit flees as normal. If they are not in combat, there is no effect.

Dire Wolves: Ullr may be accompanied by two Dire Wolves for +12 points each. Dire Wolves count as beasts, but may only charge 6 inches.

Dire Wolf WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv

4 0 4 5 1 4 2 5 6+

So basically, Wolf lord, RA, Fancy Hammer, SotB, BP, BoR, WTN, F&K Grenades, MB and such

I need to get in on this one, sounds fun...

Since it seems we will be making a mini I will need to pass up on making a Rune Priest me as I don't have money for new plastic, I will go with

Iron Wolf Lord with Plasma Pistol, Wolf Claw or T-Hammer, Runic Armour, Ironwolf Mount, Melta Bomb, WTN, WTT, 2x Fen wolves, BoR, SotB

Yeap sounds good. :tu:

Oh what I wish for a runepriest on a wolfmount. What could be more awesome than a thunderwolf running towards the enemy with only blood in his eyes with a big bearded rune priest with his hands high up in the air throwing thunder and hurricanes at them.

Well well, I'd be a Wolf Lord with a runic armour (a hierloom granted to me after a long service between the grandmaster of the forge and myself), a thunderwolf black as coal, my trusted thunderhammer (which oddly enough work in the exact same way as Arjacs) Väinämöinen (which is Finnish for bard, for it is my hammer who creates the tales the men is chanting around the fire), stormshield and a big bearpelt to cover me (Saga of the bear). Other than that no meltabombs, talismans or other that would make the fighting easier, it is with my own hands I slay the enemy, not which treacherous tactics such as hidden magic or bombs. ;)
