A small allied Guard detatchment

I've been trying to decide on an allied force to go along with my wolves, mostly just for the fun of collecting some new minis. I decided on Guard and wanted a small force to fulfill the requisites before i eventually expand the force with a LRBT or vendettas, or both. My idea at the moment is a mobile force for capturing/holding objectives. A company command squad with a vox-caster, 3 plasma guns, all inside a chimera. Backing them up is a squad of plasma vets also in a chimera. They can camp an objective, hopping out if necessary to double tap 6 twin linked plasma guns. It comes in at about 330 points. I run a pretty typical wolf force. Hunters in rhinos, long fangs, termies in a raider sometimes, thunderwolf cavalry other times. What d'ya think? Horrible plan? Good idea? Drop some knowledge bombs on me b&c.

I have also decided upon using the IG as an "Small" detachment, (think House Belisarius).

I am on travel right now aross the world and do not have either codex, but i plan on a small HG dquad, a basic troop, and a Leman Russ Battle (just cause i miss it from 2nd ed. but now i can make it a battle tank instead of an exterminator).

I do not plan an altering my current list just because of allies and fortifications...

i do not run a "weblist",

i run,

a WL (TW) (SS, FW, SoB,[or SoWB] RA, WTN, WTT),with 2 TWC (all storm shields, 1 TH on TWC)

RP (JoWW, LL) 1 WG PP, PW(sword), with GH*10, 1 PG, 1 Flammer, on foot

WP(RA), 1 WG PP, PW(sword), 13x BC(1 flamer), Lucas, 1 BD with PF

1 LW TDA with CF and SB,

1 Razor back with twin LC.

4 Bc bikers, 1 BC biker with PF, 1 assault bike with MM, 1 WGPL (SS, FW)

 

the list come out to about 1850, I have used this list for the better part of 2 years (maybe sliding in anothe GH pack in a DP with MGs and more 1 TWC and losing the BC bikers).

BUT, now that we can ally with IG, i think it is a great idea to ally with them and be able to use them.

I'm planning the same thing as lfbruss, planning on house Belisarius for fluff reasons, going out to buy the IG book formyself monday and the Nid book for the wife(love that she wants toget into 40k with me) Planning on a psycher of some nature and vets for sure don't know about vehicles yet but that is because i am rereading my omnibus and have no clue as to if the fluff had them with much in the realm of vehicles. I am arguing in my head though because I am building a 2k Logan wing so I am gonna have to rewrite it to include the Imps or write up a whole new one in order to include them...guess its a good thing I got about 1.5k non TDA stuff atm. Oh well more models and army making for me...YAY.

I have been slowwly building a Belisarian PDF for years ever since I read the Ragnar books. The allies I use lately are a Defence line with Lascannon, a Lord Commisar to man it along with my long fangs, a Vet squad in a Chimera with a lascannon, 2 Plasmaguns, and a melta; and finaly a Vendetta. I use the allies to fill those gaps in my list namely lascannons and flyer/flying monterous creature defense. seems to be working out well enough in the few games I've played with them.
