Congratulations!

I've added two little ones to our chapter myself in the last couple years. I didn't tell the high lords or the inquisition. Don't want those buggers knowing exactly how many of us wolves there really are now do we.

Again congratulations!

Congratulations!

As someone who works with children every day, I can say:

You have a challenge and a gift right there. Enjoy it, you'll all grow over time ;)

Maybe by the time of ETL X he can help you prime your models. And by the time of ETL XV he can paint his first honorary vow of a few starter marines.

But... we shouldn't teach him to handle a bolter, before he can hold his own cup (of the Wulfen).

For now: Relax, enjoy some family time and don't worry about your vow anymore.

Congrats on the child. Well done.

As for fenris.

Fenris still stands. The Wolves were beaten but not broken. We sent Magnus packing. Logan had to make some difficult (but IMHO warranted) political decisions to ensure Fenris's survival. And we went off to defend Cadia.

Remember your full nights sleep, lying in on weekends, having so much free time and a social life and then along came himself. Well Magnus kinda did the same to Fenris, but like yourself Fyth it's still in the game, a little shaken but solid.

This hits a little too close to home hahaha

The Iron Wolves lost their Jarl,

Egil used a lascannon to shoot at Magnus, but Magnus put Egil between himself and the shot. So Egil inadvertently shot himself to death with a lascannon due to psyker shennanigans.

On to Cadia and it looks like the Iron Wolves company and the Fire Howlers (Sven Bloodhowls GC) might be dead to a man.

So this is the wolf priest I kit bashed a while back, need to drill gun barrels, fix the helm, add some writing to the scrolls and touch up the cross on the shoulder pad before he's done. Does anyone have any good recommendations for gold base, more on the yellow side like on the staff? I'm not happy with the P3 Rhulic Gold into Auric Armour Gold approach I've been using, I have to do a lot of coats to get full coverage and it's a lot of work. Would love any suggestions.

Scalecolor makes the best metallics for my money currently, sorry if thats not what you meant when asking for recommendations. Looking cool though! I actually like that head on that body you've made, its usually not one of my favs!

Proper Wolf Skull heads are way too hard to find it seems, at least, in a GW packaged line.

Still, pretty solid model. Agreed on the not stellar part, however, how might you get it there? I'm just asking for the aid in mental sounding board effort to see if you can get from where you are, to where you want to be...

"Off with his head" comes to mind. Heh, otherwise I could try direct highlights instead of dry brush highlights to try and get the areas to pop that need it. Accent colors tend to help so maybe finding a place for that like the chord at the base of the helm. This is where I'm going to start at least.

Ah a new father! Welcome to the fold again, it gets easier as they grow :smile.:

:teehee:

Mind your manners, cub!

The Lady is seeking advice, thus my question.

Still, Fyth, as a relative non-painter, the more actual paint on a model, direct sounding better, the more it might pop. If my inability to paint helped me notice one thing, less is more, and, the only way to get, "Nice mini, looks real," is to consider lighting on a table as well as elsewhere, to see what shows where. Basically, dramatic lighting is from below the face.

I think you might get a bit more traction if you can find a way to light the model as if from above, through proper thinness and application of paint.

Wolf Skull Helms should be a thing from GW; kinda hurts that one has to butcher the single best non-Ulric model for every WSH head needed...

Forget about the return of Russ, Fytharin is back. Great to see you back painting, how's the cub doing?

Hey Mactire! Cub is doing great, he's fascinated by all of the paint pods that have seemingly appeared overnight. We've sort of enforced a do no touch zone where we've played with Magic the Gathering cards, my confidence that will hold when colorful action figures are on the table is not high...haha, how have you been?

Wolf skull helmets can be found from KFStudios.

They are amazing and I use them myself

More importantly, welcome back!

Nice, I'll check them out because I would much prefer to have a skull on this model for sure. I've just never been satisfied with the chop jobs and skulls out there so I went with the wolf head.
