Exark
So how do you outfit your swiftclaws I'm considering running a few squads as screening units, however am undecided as to how to equip them. My thoughts so far: Plasmaguns- Flexible, can deal with AV13 and below, also anti-heavy infantry. Problem: the points i shell out for them seem wasted on a BS3 model. Meltagun- Focused anti tank, can also target infantry, problem here is again the BS3, the points not so much. Flamer- I'm leaning towards this, its cheap and ignores BS, problem is that it makes the unit too focused (unless I give one meltabombs then problem solved, but still) What are your thoughts and experiences? Wulfebane
Littlebits has a 5E guide to a Swiftclaws army. Outside of that, in my experience, they're better off getting into melee asap. So anything requiring a BS roll is negligible. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258378-swiftclaw-outfitting/#findComment-3142282 Share on other sites
Khine
Best to just stick with your twinlinked bolters and possibly a flamer if you get in close enough. Lord Ragnarok
I'm planning on outflanking mine (5man pack+assault bike) with a Wolfpriest on bike with saga of the hunter. Plasma gun, Attack bike will keep the HB, power axe and a WG with wulfen with gun slinging plasma pistols. Wolf Priest with plasma pistol and melta bomb. They will support my 5 pods. My experience with blood claws in the past is that with plasma the BS 3 is overrated. I've never used(that I can remember) melta guns on BC's. TiguriusX
Can't take hunter saga with bike as wargear if I recall correctly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258378-swiftclaw-outfitting/#findComment-3142433 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
Can't take hunter saga with bike as wargear if I recall correctly Doh! (digs into the tomes) --------- Correct.. .somehow I missed "Infantry Only" Back to the drawing board. Actually, I can still hold them in reserves as they are the only non podding unit. They'll just have to enter from my deployment zone. I can also switch Hunter for Beast Slayer, this will be helpful against walkers, t5's etc..) Bearingtheword
Heh, I was just going to ask about this... Was thinking about using flamers to eliminate some of the disadvantage of the BS 3, an AB with a multimelta and running a Rune priest with a plas pistol, a divination power and Saga of the Beastslayer,as well as a wolf guard pack leader with a combi-plas and frost axe, along with them. They'd make a pretty descent walker/monstrous creature and light infantry hunting unit, I think. What are your thoughts? ~BtW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258378-swiftclaw-outfitting/#findComment-3142467 Share on other sites
