Exark
This has been bothering some what, I've tried search and no topics have come up on it. Why Rare Earth Magnets over Ceramic ones? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258409-magnets/ Share on other sites
Peredyne
RE magnets are stronger overall than the ceramics and are, in my opinion, better suited for our applications. Subtle Discord
Not just 'stronger'. Much much much stronger. A ceramic magnet 1cm round by 5mm thick might be as strong as a neodymium just a few millimeters round and tall. There's no comparison. They're worth every penny. I'm gonna go ahead and throw my full and wholehearted agreement behind this. I use 2mm x 1mm neodymium disk magnets for everything from swappable weapon arms to Predator sponsons and even the turret. To give you an idea of the strength, I wouldn't be comfortable picking the Predator up by the turret but it doesn't budge during a game. Troops are fine to pick up by their arms. And they're pretty cheap. I got 50 for about £3 on ebay... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258409-magnets/#findComment-3142735 Share on other sites
Xenith
This has been bothering some what, I've tried search and no topics have come up on it. Why Rare Earth Magnets over Ceramic ones? There are no topics because there is no debate :P Ceramics are big and bulky compared to the REE magnets, and more likely to chip.
