Okay, so I'm toying with running my list with correct numberings of daemon models in my troops squads, meaning all the units in groups of:

 

7 Nurgle Plaguebearers

8 Khorne Bloodletters

9 Tzeentch Pink Horrors

 

(and then 6 Daemonettes if I add them to the force--currently mostly Tzeentch, but additional Khorne and Nurgle troops choices).

 

While I am certain that this would incur a great deal of luck, I'm particularly worried that I would want more Bloodletters and especially Daemonettes. 8 or 6 are just too small for these units, right? They'll get too clobbered unless I'm above 12 or so?

 

What do people think of running a more fluff-oriented justification for troops choices? Am I setting myself up for failure?

Well, I think using those numbers for,your troops makes the either too large or too small. IMO the daemon troops are pretty bad, so you either go for minimum squads and hide, or you go for larger squads if you want them to try to do something and make up the bulk of your army.

Dont forget you can just go up in multiples, 16 bloodletters, 14 plaguebearers etc ;)

For letters or daemonettes it is the only way to make it useful. For plaguebearers or horrors 7 or 9 will be ok IMO.
