So I have been out of the hobby for a good six years and now I'm back baby! Most of my models were stolen out of the back of my dad's truck all those years ago (and on CHRISTMAS no less) and I was too discouraged to continue. Finally I have the motivation to return, but I don't have a single model to my name. Slowly however, I want to build "The Valiant Third" 3rd Company of my Sons of Retribution Chapter (seriously, dont read it. I think I wrote it when I was 14 and I'm almost 19 now). To start, I thought I'd make a concept model for the 3rd's Captain Cirrius from bits online. Thanks to you guys I found the Bitz Barn, which has everything I could have asked for. So I don't know if this technically a WIP since I don't actually own any of these bitz. Basically, I will show you guys all of the parts that I want to use (including links and price) and if you guys could tell me if it is logical or not, or weather there would be any problems (like if two some bitz are disproportionate) that would be amazing. I don't want to end up spending money on something that won't work out. So here he is in pieces from the essentials outward. The laurel is a typical reward for being awesome, I think for bravery or similar. Standard bearers are typically chosen from the pool of marines who have earned the laurel. However, the Flagellant head's neck won't be long enough to fit with a Space Marine torso, so you'll probably have to glue the beard down and greenstuff most of neck in. The gorget on the torso might also get in the beard's way but that depends on how you pose it. Another thing is with bitz sites in general, you definitely want to check how many of the items they actually have in stock - Bitzbarn doesn't show it on the individual item pages, just on the store page (for example, "Red Scorpions") under "quantity." I hadn't thought of that ;) I am fairly set on the head as it is just awesome, so I think what I will do is sculpt a GS neck as long as it can be w/out looking unnatural, then pose the head in the most convenient way, and if all fails, I can probably make a very precise incision to sort of insert the gorget into the beard, and give the effect that the beard is naturally flowing over the gorget (this could possibly also be achived by shaving down the gorget in just the right location). The model will look good when it's done I'm sure. As others have said the flagellant head will not fit, so you may want to pursue a space wolf bearded head, or sculpt a beard on a plain head. Also, if the armor you are going off of is stylized Mk III, why are you putting on a MK. V backpack and MK. 7 shoulderpad? Wouldn't MK. III throughout make more sense? What color scheme is this guy going to be painted in? Have you thought of having a helmet clipped to the waist of his armor? He is going to be my first first model for my Sons of Retribution DIY chapter found HERE. The paint scheme can be found there. Honestly the pitz i picked were mostly just because i thought they looked cool but if you read the article, you will see that it CAN be justified. My chapter is a renegade chapter which means that it can no longer rely on the the imperium for supplies. Therefore, they must work with what they can get. I plan to mix different armor marks very heavily throughout the army to give it that "scrapped together" appearance :P ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As others have said the flagellant head will not fit, so you may want to pursue a space wolf bearded head, or sculpt a beard on a plain head. . Ok so I've been warned that the Flagellant head won't fit, which makes me very sad ^_^ But I can move past it. I look forward to the finished result! I agree but they'd probably have to come off anyway as they look like they'd be in the way of that chin guard. I'm also not a big fan of the FW MKIII legs but thats more of a personal gripe. The rest of the pieces look good but I'd ike to see them assembled ;). I'm going to check out some other heads. I just want something unique, doesn't necessarily have to be bearded. If anyone has ideas, please tell me and/or attach a link. Also, I think you should keep the original FW backpack as it's much more rare and will make the model look more unique. The ridged shoulder pad on each side does indeed look awesome so I'd agree with the one that's been posted above. Btw, I think you will also need a back half for the torso, but maybe one of your friends will have a spare one they can give you. If you are going to buy any purity seals, go for the Grey Knight ones as they are way more dynamic and detailed. This is going to look great!
