davidmn
Hello all, I'll be painting a BA Librarian soonish and I am a tad confused about how to paint it. Off the top of my head they all have blue power armour with Chapter details on the right shoulder pad and with a creamy yellowish tabard. However I don't know if the BAs follow this part of the Codex Astartes. Am I correct? Or am I missing something? Durus
Unless it was changed in the most recent codex BA use the standard Codex Astartes scheme and markings for their Librarians. Validar
The way I see it, the fluff is open enough for a slight interpretation of the Codex when it comes to color schemes. My Salamander veterans have black helmets and my salamanders sport golden trims, which I don't feel is completely out of line with the fluff (could signify that they are currently working with Vulkan He'Stan, which they are. They still have the salamander head telling which company they belong to). Thus I'd say if you just want to paint your librarian with a blue arm, for example, to make him fit better with his red kind, then feel free to do so. puck
I've always found it strange that non-codex adherent chapters would disregard important stuff in the codex like number of personnel, company organization etc. but still follow the small stuff like "all librarians are blue". Ostensibly in the fluff this is to make them easier to spot if they start to become possessed, but them they tell us that space marines have photographic memories and bio sign readouts on subordinates. Furthermore space marines probably spend more time in their armor than out of it and it is frequently referred to as their second skin. There are also instances where space marines can identify each other via unique body posture tics associated with a specific marine so I have a little trouble believing that someones not going to be able to pick out "librarian joe" if his armor isn't blue. Here's a link to an all red blood angels librarian. EDIT: Also if you check out my gallery I have a DW librarian that is not painted in standard colors if that gives you some reassurance. Red Fury
The blue librarian color scheme actually started with the Blood Angels back in 2nd Ed. But, if you want to go red, go red. Even Mephiston is red, so there is nothing set in stone. I like mine blue though: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258622-blood-angels-librarian-colour-scheme/#findComment-3145157 Share on other sites
