Rommel44
Hey mates. I have been running my "Inquisition Stormtrooper" army, which is lead by Inquisitor Coteaz for some time now with very good success at the moment ( currently am 10-2-1 with them at the moment ), with both of my losses coming against 2x footslogging IG armies and the draw against a Immortal-heavy Necron army. At the time, I was running 3x, 12-man squads of Acolytes, with 9x Hot-Shot Lasguns and Carapace armor and 3x with Plasmaguns and Carapace Armor in Chimeras, however what hurt me was not able to get many shots downrange due to the Hot-Shots short range and too few wounds with them being only S3, which is why I am considering droping them for Bolters. Now though the Hot-Shot Lasgun is AP3, the Bolter is not only 4 points cheaper but S4, and though some may also suggest the SB instead of a regular Bolter, it is still 2 points less then a SB, allowing me to use my points for others things and since they are in Chimeras, they should be in rapid-fire range pretty quickly. Anyways, just wondering if Bolters are a good option for them or if they would be better with something else. spartan249
Bolters open up points for one jokaero in each squad, which I would go for. If that's not fitting for your theme, then the points you save could go for other units for support. It is the dumbest model and the dumbest idea GW ever came up with so it will have no part in my list ;). Main reasin is to keep points low so I can run more sutff in my army, and since they will be in Chimeras most of the time, kinda defeats the purpose of taking a SB in a way. The Holy Heretic
Yeah, you just have to model the concept of 'tech monkey' ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258705-warrior-acolytes-bolters-a-good-option/#findComment-3146315 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
With the change to Rapid Fire Weapons in 6th, and the drawback of Rapid Fire Weapons being really non existant for Warrior Accolytes, I'd now go with Bolters over SB every day. Agreed. This is what im planning. I was going to run a 2xjok setup with bolter warriors. (2xplasma and 1xmelta) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258705-warrior-acolytes-bolters-a-good-option/#findComment-3146991 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
It's a slight upgrade to double their damage output at 24", I would actually go storm bolter everytime. BS3 bolters firing one shot at 24" just aren't that effective, but storm bolters will actually generate hits. Also, when you add monkeys (always add 2, its sucks rolled a 1 on the upgrade chart, and BS3 means you want to to average a lascannon hit), their upgrade chart leans towards more guns and more shots benefiting. Gentlemanloser
You still get 2 shots at 12". I just don't feel that the for a shade under getting another Warrior Accolyte, upgrading to a SB is worth it. Spend a couple of points more, and get another Bolter Accolyte instead. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258705-warrior-acolytes-bolters-a-good-option/#findComment-3152648 Share on other sites

That's easily charge range, or enemy rapid-fire, flamers etc. The squad is limited to 12 manz, 2 of which are usually monkeys (as they are amazing in a shooty warband, better than Servitors often). You're still only paying base IG Veteran price for the storm bolter dudes, its not breaking the bank. Also, you will want to include the three plasma gunners, so thats another 3 spaces taken. If you want to attach an Inquisitor (recommended, Stubborn and Ld10 is pretty handy, as are the re-rolls to hit), that's another space in the Chimera taken. So, you usually only have 5-6 meatbags left anyway. For those remaining bullet shields, I'd prefer the stupidly low price of storm bolters. edit: Oooh, just realised, you can technically equip the special weapon guys with both a plasma gun and a meltagun. How utterly ridiculous. I may actually do this in my Henchmen list, my local Templar players loves his Landraider and Vindicator. Reclusiarch Darius
Always man :P Six are going to be plasma gun with meltagun slung on back, three will be meltagun with plasma gun slung on back. In the interest of making the Inquisitors less boring, I'm going to model them using these guys (got two already) http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1070099 One of them has the sword instead of auspex, so I can leave him. For the other two guys (still need one more Inquisitor) I'll just use the Terminator swords (so many leftofter bitz from the TDA boxes, making Death-Cult is easy with falchions) and put a scabbard on his back. Gonna run them as Divination Inquisitors with force sword+plasma pistol+combi-melta. Even more melta/plasma! Even better, when I bring in Guard Allies, they can be the Veteran Sergeants for the plasma Vets (I'll upgrade my Inquisitors to full TDA+hammer+psycannon status in larger games).
