mughi3
Got another good game of 6th ed in today against a new IG player. he was running a russ heavy list. .IG HQ squad with all the advisors .3 vet squads in chimera with meltas and carapace (we had to proxy a bit so hellhounds count as chimeras) .2X 3 unit russ squads .marbo .storm troopers with 2 meltas http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/ka81212.jpg I was running the same 6th ed list as before. .master of the forge harness+ 2 servitors .X2 tech marines with full harnes and 1 servitor .tech marine with harness and 2 servitor .Scout squad(5) fist, sniper .tactical squad (8) fist .X2 storm eagle gunships las/typhoon .assault marines(5) TH/SS sarge, flamer .superheavy detachment-doom hammer http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/kb81212.jpg Unfortunately i didn't take many pics of this games as i was pretty focused on it. stats: 2k points table-diagnal split mission-big guns 3 objectives. He won the roll and made me go first. i went to work tickling his chimeras, immobilising 1 of them. forcing his vets to bail out and seek shelter. He had followed my advice to place one tank unit in reserve. so they managed to come in from reserve closer to me thus splitting the doomhammers focus Hull points were brutal as normal allowing my gunships to aid in the destruction of 3 russ's 2 chimera, immobilise a futher one of each before moving onto thining infantry. only 2 of the vehicles died from pen hits. All in all reserves didn't do a lot this game. my assault marines were hammpered by the fact they couldn't actually assault the turn they rolled onto the table and were subsequently killed before they could do much. marbo did some damage to the doomhammer before he was brought down by bolter fire. His storm troopers dropped in and helped add to the damage on the doomhammer. then they got shot up by bolter fire and assaulted by the master of the forge who waded through them with rightious fury. At the end of the game i scored one objective, first blood and slay the warmaster giving me a total of 5 points, he managed to hang on to 2 objectives and win the game with 6 points. overall losses My force- .2 scouts .1 servitor .1 HP on a storm tallon .5 HP on the doom hammer(he actually did more, but i repaired a few of them), las cannon destroyed X2, heavy bolter destroyed X1 His losses .3 leman russ MBT .2 chimera .storm trooper squad .marbo .his command squad http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i112/mughi3/batreps/kc81212.jpg The game ended on turn 5, if it had gone on for a turn or 2 i think i would have been able to turn it around. mughi3
Very happy to see MoTF doing well this ed. - since im in love with the background ill be running one for my SoM from now on. Do you think that the SE is a must include this early in 6th ed? Nice report and good pics. GW has moved the goal posts so to speak, i wish my dread force was still viable since i really enjoyed playing it in the last couple editions, however given the frailty of vehicles on the ground now. having a good fire support tank in the air that can haul around a techi to keep it alive is actually worth its points more than a land raider(and cost a bit more to). it still sill suffer if i run into an "airforce army" like an IG vendetta force or a necron 7 flyer list(got slaughtered by that one). im sure that AA ground units will start showing up more but aside from IG and tau they wont be in large numbers like those that can hurt ground vehicles. also being immune to assault is a HUGE advantage due to the boost it has in this edition. The thing about the SE specifically the way i have it set up is that it can deal with hordes and vehicles with equal measure. i got the 2 5" pie plate shots from the vengence launcher and the alternate small templates from the typhoon to smack around hordes or i can double las and typhoon krak shot vehicles. it has good transport capabilities however i do not run a very CC oriented force so that aspect of the unit really doesn't do much for me.
