Thymebandit
Hey there folks, I recently handed over my Templars to the wifey, figured if she was going to pick a Space Marine codex to run it might as well be the army I already have painted! In the meantime I have embarked upon setting up my own Nurglicious warband of an undecided name. I will be trying to make a Demon Prince, Lord, Defiler, two tac squads, two plague marine squads and a havoc squad with all customizable loadouts. A big bite for sure. Today I sat down and just busted out the Prince and Lord- Here are some pics I've got so far! Album with some progress pics- - What I did! And as for what things look like at the moment- http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2194.jpg My Demon Prince, still unfinished http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2186.jpg My Lord's chest piece- still haven't knocked off the salt to show the rust layer underneath and the trimmings will be bone colored with some brass piping. http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2163.jpg And the poor son of Dorn for the scenic base D: More to come! Comments and criticism please :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258845-my-new-nurgle-warband-work-in-progress/ Share on other sites
Thymebandit
Sat down this evening and got a bit of painting done  Some of tester techniques did not come out as well on my Lord, alas! I think he looks pretty grime-coated which is what I was going for. Finishing weapons and such for now, then to clean up the base a bit more. Next few days will be the start of 5 CSM and 5 Plague Marines, while finishing up the Demon Prince. Here are some more pics! http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2226.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2223.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2219.jpg I'm thinking I may brighten up the white a bit more to keep things from looking so washed together. The lighting in these pictures really makes it difficult to even pick out where the white is in my opinion. Anyways, more to come! Circus Nurgling
Nurgle warbands usually use complimentary colors. Nothing wrong with it, unless you just want more contrast. Thymebandit
It might just be me looking at the pictures, heh. I went back to the model and it looks fine after all :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258845-my-new-nurgle-warband-work-in-progress/#findComment-3150105 Share on other sites
Circus Nurgling
Yeah, happens to me a lot. My camera fu is weak, so I mostly just use the pics to see where I need to touch up. I don't trust the colors. If you looked at my recent photos, you'd think my terminators were pure rust, but looking at them on tabletop it's pretty evenly spaced, and there is quite a bit of natural armor showing through. The light just wanted to grab onto that orange for some reason. Brother Ambroz
Can we get a picture of the prince from farther away? Or just not so close? Looks good from what I can see though. Thymebandit
Managed to take some new pictures of a little better quality. Sat down and hammered out my Plague Marines and their champion. I wanted less of a 'diseased' look and more of a 'decay' look so I shied away from bloating and the like. I wanted it to look like they were molding from the inside out, eventually eating away at bits of their armor and over-growing. It may be a little difficult to see, but as I start hitting up details it should really pop.. and I need to keep cleaning them off D: They are also a lighter color than my 'green' standard Marines. Also more Prince pics, from a bit further out. http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2239.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2237.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2236.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2235.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2245.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2244.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2243.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2242.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2241.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2240.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2246.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2247.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2246.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2251.jpg *angry stares at mold lines and mutters about model-making while sleepy, goes off to fix that* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258845-my-new-nurgle-warband-work-in-progress/#findComment-3152510 Share on other sites
Azekai
I like that DP a lot. The creative Nurgle DPs that constantly pop up amongst this community never cease to amaze! All it needs now is a set of wings  The weathering looks interesting . . . can't wait to see the finished product! noopinarg
I find it extremely comical that the Lord is standing over the dead body of a Fist... Coincidence? Chaeron
Really like the work thus far. I would personally want to see a few more little bits of contrast on the Prince just to make him pop. As stated, it's generally colours that will compliment one another well used without our schemes, but breaking that up where possible can be ultra effective. Don't forget some shading for the depth and tone of the model! Thymebandit
Another week and some more updates ;) Regular old nurgle-marked CSM's are being built one at a time, all weapon options are kinda hanging back until the new Codex. Also the Land Raider and Defiler are coming together as well. Need more greenstuff, but the local store is out! It's given me time to sit and sketch out what I actually want to sculpt for the Defiler and write up some fluff for the army. Without further comment, here are my updates on my Plague Marines! I'm using a viral fungus called the Dire Rot to represent the blessing of Nurgle, it eats at them and begins to emerge and overgrow their armor. Still need to do brass/leadbelcher details and some highlights- http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2252.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2268.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2267.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2266.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2264.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2262.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2261.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2259.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2258.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2257.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2256.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2254.jpg http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o483/RoboPie86/Nurgleeezzz/DSCF2252.jpg More to come :o C&C always welcome! John_f
I think the look great! You have captured that old, overgrown look but I think that you could use some more color. Perhaps add som greenstuff to represent green moss growing on them. Or purple/yellow puss filled boils? Just something to make them "pop" =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/258845-my-new-nurgle-warband-work-in-progress/#findComment-3178732 Share on other sites

Still have a Vindicator and Land Raider to Nurgle-fy and spent some time doing preliminary green-stuffing. Today I will finish up and start base coating. Call me lazy, but I think that the Dark vengeance Chosen look perfect for what I'm trying to pull off. It was total coincidence but the demonic changes to the armor and all the hoses look perfect.
