a good way of getting a nice finish on marine helmet lenses is to start with a base of black, and fill in the middle with white, then the colour of your choice, after this is dry then ink the lense with the ink version of the same colour.

It means your filling rather than trying to trace the edges

Interesting option, actually if you own any Micron Pens (.005) its REALLY easy to trace the eye lens :) (http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/Pen-Archival/) this is how I do all of scroll work on my Angels I think I may use it to trace the lenses on my wolves.

I haven't used any inks yet (Or whatever they are called now)

Insanity. Fill, don't trace. Your hands and eyesight will thank you. And washes/inks were the gods' gift to painting shortcuts.

Actually, do listen to these fellow brothers.

When I said line the eyes, I mean that marine you already painted, so you don't gunk up his eye sockets with extra layers of paint.

For future marines, yeah... start with a black undercoat in the eye socket, then fill it in with a red, then fill it in some more with a lighter red.

That's what I meant, haha

Oh be wary if you line with the pen. Some of them bled when I sprayed varnish on it. Horrible... =(

Yeah, depending on the ink and how much you apply, it could take anywhere from minutes to days in order to dry. Sometimes they never truly dry at all and can still smear with slight direct pressure from say a brush.

I am referring to micron and other precision pens. This is also intended as a warning for use on scrolls, purity seals, or tattoos, etc.

The Pen I use I use for ALL my Purity Seals. I give it 1 day to dry and it works like a charm. (I know its a blood angel don't hate me)

On an off note.

If I change the Metal Trim for each pack (Gold to Silver) and change the Decal on each Pack (From Paws to Skulls) but keep the color of the Unit type (red / black for GH's) is that too much diversity? Or should I keep them all the same for each troop type?

I'm just wondering if I make one pack use gold metals, the next use silver, will it look like its not one fighting force?

As you can see in my finished model the right shoulder is red and there is a black paw now there for my Grey Hunter pack 1... I have 7 other guys in that unit painted the same.

The next I was going to do a black shoulder with red zig zag and a white decal... make sense or sound stupid?
