Pre Heresy colours?

I'm planning a fallen army for the new chaos codex. I know the old colours for the DA where black but was the legion symbol in red or white?

For really early DA I prefer the red symbol on black plate - and that is certainly what GW were using at the time. White symbol on black is a later change and is cool too - but for me doesn't seem very 'Falleny'

The books also show Caliban marines painting a shoulderpad green in acknowledgement of their quest to rid the world of the Beasts. As such, I imagine you could sprinkle a little DA Green in B)
