Mechanicus Genator

Jupiter Forge

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just did a quick finish on my custom Adeptus Mechanicus Genator.

No servo-arms in this wing of the Mechanicus, they deal in saws, syringes and all things to do with the Biological makeup of things.

It only took about a couple of hours, as you'll notice it's not the best paint job, but I wanted to get something out today.

Cheers for looking,

J.F.

This to me doesn't scream "Adeptus Mechanicus" at all, Genator or not. Seems better suited as a Space Marine Apothecary.

I concur. Needs more robes, less power armor. Fabius Bile's backpack is an awesome bit, but the Emperor's champ base needs a lot to be desired.

I see where you're coming from about the Emperor's Champion not fitting too well land I would have liked a more robey model, but I'm working on the fluff for this sort of thing and it kind of fits in with that... though not the usual "Adeptus Mechanicus" theme. My ideas are more a take on a "What if they were allowed to form their own chapter, or forces to defend their forge worlds more effectively from the encroaching threats of the universe". So you are right, it does suit the more Space Marine Apothecary look; which is what I was going for in part as that's what role it'd play in an actual game-army.

Thanks for the feedback on it, I do appreciate it (all feedback is good feedback as they say). One day I'll have the whole fluff done and up so more of my models make sense.

Cheers.

"What if they were allowed to form their own chapter, or forces to defend their forge worlds more effectively from the encroaching threats of the universe".

What, like genehanced Skittarii regiments, Weapon servitors, Knights and Titans??? The Ad Mech dont want or need space marines to defend themselves - attacking a forge world is usually the last thing an enemy does - they' reat least as heavily defended, if not usually more so, than a Marine Homeworld. they might want a marine chapter in theri pockets to do some search-and-retrieve jobs and suchlike for them, but I doubt much more than that.

I think the Steel Confessors sort of sink any theories about the Adeptus Mechanicus neither wanting nor needing their own pet Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. :)

And of all the organizations within the Imperium that might want to secretly create their own Chapter (or Chapters) of the Adeptus Astartes, the Adeptus Mechanicus are most able to do so successfully since they have access to gene-seed, expertise in cultivating/implanting that gene-seed, and the ability to equip a Chapter.

One of the ideas I had was pretty much a more heavily armored "task force" to go and seek out, secure, retrieve, and protect vital new technological discoveries so that the actual tech priests and normal mechanicus didn't have to be in "as much" danger as they would be normally, and they wouldn't have to rely on getting help from any outside force like another SM chapter.

Titans/Knights - Fine and dandy, but nobody wan'ts to spend that much money (well, they DO... but it's far too much). Marine related things are cheaper and you can do more with them modelling wise I'd say.

Skitarii - Don't like them, they're far too Servitor-Like and from the pictures... just look pig-ugly. Marines just have that "look" about them as if to say "Calm down son, we're here to sort this out".

I do see what you're saying, and it's a valid point, but as I said this is more a "what if they..." idea and nothing that'd probably happen without some real shoehorning into the fluff. ;)

"I think the Steel Confessors sort of sink any theories about the Adeptus Mechanicus neither wanting nor needing their own pet Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes." - Good man yourself! I remember reading about the Steel Confessors and liking the idea, along with the Praetors, Medusa, Hands, etc. Ones closely allied with the Mechanicus... but not "actually" Mechanicus. My little guys are more "We are Mechanicus (borg?)". I would have done one of those chapters, but I wanted something a little different.

The Mechanicus wouldn't even need to do it secretly, as they are pretty much the "Tech Support" of the Warhammer universe their Lord of Terra representative could just turn to the others and go (and I'm paraphrasing heavily here) "Look guys, I know we talked about this before but just give me a chance here. We build and maintain virtually everything for you, we're getting a little flack from those Necron Fleets prowling around like they own the sector, it's time we got some actual "oomph" to send them packing. And lets not forget the disasters we've had trying to get those pesky STC templates off those Genestealer infested worlds!"... and then, you never know... you get some Sanctioned Mechanicus Marines. A man can dream, can't he? Besides, it's not like it's cannon, not trying to step on anyone's toes, just having a little fun with my ideas.

I really do welcome the discussion on things like this, as it gives me ideas on what direction I'd like to take things.
