Brother-Ports
Today the Templar fleet fought against the impieral navy. In the first turn a cobra escort, 3 firestorm escorts and 1 sword escort where destroy under a massed volley of fire, with the escorts down the Templars where with rage they then consign treated fire on the battle ship and left it weak and with little then 3 hit points. The enemy commander run with his tail between his legs. Slowly but surely the Templars engage and took out more cruisers destroying a space hulk next to another cruiser with the plasma reactors overloaded the blast took the other cruiser by surprise and it too went up in smoke. With the lose of so many ships the navy decided to run, in total the Templars gain 636 vp points and the imperial navy run away with 225 points. Hail to dorn the primarch and to the emperor. Black_Crusader
That link looks very nice, that Venerable Battlebarge is sweet :) I have only played once against the filthy eldar xenos and i really try to forget that game... He send a super lucky torpedo salvo against my battlebarge at one point of the battle and got a single hit. He then got a 6 for a critical and then double 6s on the critical table... Of course he then got 6 on the d6 for damage... Basically a one shoot kill Battlebarge!!! :D at that point the game was over and it was also the first round of his shooting in the game... Terrible experience i hope no other templar face such a fate again... :) That said the Eldar get re-roll on their torpedos and their movement makes them able to fire from every angle they want, they get lots of turns for their ships unlike the usual ones. They are made from papper though so if you manage to get the first strike you pretty much won even if you can't do it with orders, even their battleships are armour 4+. Use as many gun batteries as possible, lances and torpedos are not good against them as they can evade them. Brother-Ports
I'm thinking of making the eternal crusader as a venerable battle barge the only difference would be I would give it an extra squadron of TH an extra turret and 1 extra shield taking it to 500 points. A standard BB is only 425. This will make the eternal crusader 5 points less then a planet killer. Any thoughts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259149-black-templar-battlefleet-gothic-fleet/page/2/#findComment-3159391 Share on other sites
Black_Crusader
Check it again you lose a TH not gain. It is 25 points more than the standard without upgrades so i say it is worth it. Against Eldar though i think keeping the longer range and more firepower guns will be better. Eldar have 4+ armour anyway and they take critical on a 4+ so the bombardment cannons are just like normal guns for them, better have more numbers. Yeah I see you lose a TH but if you where to create a new ship with new rules would that be a viable cost ie have the current stats for 425 but give the new BB 500 with those extra shields, and TH sqn and turrets for 75 extra points. I'm going to ask to guys I game with and see what they say. I would really like to see a ship like the eternal crusader with a little more power for a ship which is so old, try and keep with the fluff? Black_Crusader
The way i understand it is that you can buy the ''Venerable Battlebarge Seditio Opprimere'' wich means 450 points before you and master of fleet, rerolls or terminators. You just change the name (obviusly) but the stats are the same. Black_Crusader
My Battle Fleet Gothic Crusade (The image is awful but can't do better with just the selfphone) 2000 points value with 1 Battlebarge, 2 strike cruisers, 2 Armageddon battlecruisers, 4 Hunter destroyers, 6 Nova frigates and 4 Gladius frigates Finally got that game we were planning. Played at 1250 per player to a total of 2500 for each fleet I used the Venerable Battlebarge, two cruisers, the hunter destroyers and one of the Battlecruisers. A good and balanced fight, we had the advantage in deployment (fleet engagement senario) but chaos and orks make a deadly combination We had a big boarding action with an Ork battleship and an ork cruiser against my battlebarge that turn the battle over to the enemy side The Battlebarge along with 4 imperial cruisers was deployed at the enemies left flank, with a squadron of 2 ork cruisers and the ork battleship charging all ahead and 2 chaos cruisers following with support fire. My two strike cruisers took the right flank to distract and search for flanking opportunities. They ended making pointless circles with a Chaos heavy cruiser and a chaos slaughter cruiser, i couldn't get into boarding but he couldn't damage me either. The middle of the board had an emperor's battleship and torpedo escorts trying to delay a chaos despoiler battleship and a squadron of three ork cruisers. The plan was to deal with the left flank, dissengage the Emperor before the orks take it and hope for the best in the strike cruiser front. Unfortunatly at the most important boarding with the battlebarge against the Ork battleship and a cruiser i lost badly. While having a +2 on my roll i got 2 and my opponent got 6. That left the barge crippled and barely survived next turns boarding. With the Emperor leaving the middle area there was nothing else we could do to stop the Despoiler and 3 ork cruisers so the Imperial fleet retreat in order to regroup Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259149-black-templar-battlefleet-gothic-fleet/page/2/#findComment-3162361 Share on other sites
Brother-Ports
Nice fleet, it's a shame the imperial force had to regroup. I would use more strike cruisers in stead of escorts.my up date the fleet grows with 2 battle barges (eternal crusader,Divine Fury), 8 Strike Cruisers, 10 rapid strike vessels, 90 thunderhawks. In two weeks we kick of the campaign for the northern fringe sector the black Templar fleet will be split into smaller battle groups to support other imperial forces, we have 2 other Templar players who don't have BFG so my fleet will help with those 40k models. So looking forward in starting it pics to follow. Brother-Ports
I find the rules for the eternal crusader very nice I will look at fielding one some slight modes to the look maybe joining two together unsure at the moment once I'm done I will post it on here. Looking at the other fleet ships it's makes me want more so I will increase my fleet list to represent. The campaign has had a slow start with most of the players away for work we have to post pone for another few weeks that's good for me so I can buy more ships for the fleet list. Tonight I will put a pic on what the fleet looks like so for any comments would be appreciated.
