Dakka Raven's--Experiences?

Has anyone here tried out the DakkaRaven (TL-Assault Cannon, TL-Heavy Bolter, Hurricane Patter Bolters, and Psybolt Ammunition)? I've gotten in a few games with it recently and it has surprised me with how much work it has done. The fact that it can now fire all 4 weapon systems, whilst moving a full 36" seems to make the Psybolt Ammunition worth the cost. It's a very pricey vehicle, but it has yet to disappoint.

So far against Dark Eldar it's obliterated a 3++ cover jetbike squad, downed a Voidraven Bomber, and ruined a couple of transports.

Against Nids it demolished a squad of Hive Guard, worked a large squad of Gaunts, and even peeled wounds off of a Tyrannofex.

It faired equally well against Blood Angels wrecking Rhino's and softening up a Terminator deathstar for the rest of my army to finish off.

I've even seen the thing take on a pair of flyers by itself and downing one and damaging the other before finally going down.

Does anyone else have any stories about this thing? Has it seemed worth the steep cost to you when you have used it?

I was considering that same layout more or less... substitution of a typhoon missile launcher for the heavy bolter for even more versatility and a bit of ranged punch. Figured between that and the "psycannon" most light or medium vehicles would be in trouble, and you can't go wrong with a bunch of S5 bolters :)
I'm looking at running the same configuration as an anti flyer unit, as the str5 bolters alone can glance most other flyers to death let alone the str6 heavy bolters and the str7 assault cannon shots, with everything twinlinked even if you have to use the evade save you still have a really good chance to hit your target.

I love the Hurricane sponsons and assault cannon with psybolt ammo... It's been working very well for me. I'm planning to run two at 2500 points (common level in my gaming area). I have found that most armies can handle one enemy flyer but two they tend to have some problems.

G :(

Fun but expensive - and every weapon not that you upgrade/change to not bolt based, reduces the cost effectiveness of Pysbolt Ammunition.

I think the TL-Multimelta is a better choice than the TL-Heavy Bolter, so for me the question is, is it worth it to add Psybolt Ammunition and Hurricane Bolters? I do run the TL-Assault Cannon, which benefits from the Psybolt Ammunition as well, but I would never pay the Storm Raven cost for Psybolt Ammunition based on the Assault Cannon alone.

Even if you do opt to add the Hurricane Bolters, is the Psybolt Ammunition upgrade worth the cost? I'm still not convinced, as you end up paying a lot of points for a vehicle that will inevitably get a nice fat target painted on it the minute it enters the board. 1 Aegis Defense Line w/ Quad Gun could equal a very bad day for that Gunship.

@Worloch: yea I do know what you mean. I've had my own Raven get downed the instant it came in due to Interceptor. Luckily it was only Draigo in there since I was hoping to bomb my opponent with him haha.

After considering this build, I have to say that I like it the times that I've used it, but I'm curious to see how it performs over say: TL-Plasma Cannon, TL-Multi-Melta, Sponson Hurricanes. Without the Psybolt (since as you say it's no longer as cost effective when all of your weapons aren't using it) the vehicle is cheaper, and honestly I'd even consider it better against more enemies. Better anti-tank (even the ap 2 plasma cannon helps now,) better against Terminators, and still has kicking power against hordes (2x hurricanes, plasma cannon blast, and a mindstrike blast.) My only qualm with this alternative build is that it is more luck dependent having lower number of shots. My luck is fairly horrid, so I tend to like forcing the statistics with lots of dice where possible... it's a tough choice for me haha.
