Loving the Dred and the brown wolves, My only gripe is the black one looks to flat/2D

Thanks!

Yeah, I am waiting on getting some of the new Nuln Oil wash and then gonna experiment with using a dark grey basecoat and using the wash to darken it to a near black... not sure if it will work or not, but I'm going for a more realistic looking black coat.

If it works I'll post pics, if not, well.....

Got a pair of Wolf Guard Pack Leaders almost done.... I attempted to do some different things on these guys including the face tattoo. Still need to put on some wolftails hanging form the shields and of course the company markings (decals). But I think they're looking good so far...

Got my hands on a whole suitcase full of older models from a friend who no longer plays. I hadn't realized how much in size the models have grown over the years. Vehicles sizes particulary. Got several old rhinos, razorbacks with funky laz plas turrets with gunners, Whirlwinds with rounded launchers and a trio of preds in various configs and missing parts. It's pretty wild. Get to strip them and see what will be useful for. May have to start a 13th Co. project lol...

Also received the "Hordes" feral warpwolf model I had ordered that I will be using as my Redmaw. I do like how the smaller one I painted turned out but he needed to be more "monstrous", so I took the suggestions of several of the excellent hobbyists here and went that route. My missile launchers for my long fangs arrived as well. All in all my wolves should keep me busy for a bit. especially with Swiftclaws on the way too.

Did some rebasing and finished up the new version of the Redmaw (Hordes warpwolf) which is closer to the size described for him in IA:11 Doom of Mymeara.

Thanks! The bases are from Secret Weapon Miniatures, they are the "Runic Mountain" bases. I painted them and then added a mix of PVA Glue, Baking Soda, and water (mixed together) for the snow. :)

I like their bases because they add a bit of height, and the illusion of size over regular based models. I model my "Human" models on the reg "GW" bases and my "post-human super soldiers" (read as Astartes) get the others. They look closer to true scale on those bases, even if they are not.... LOL

~BtW

Hehe, you discovered my side project away from my Word Bearer's...

Thanks TG! It's the Hordes "Warpwolf" model..... It's a nice kit, comes with 3 dif head choices, several dif arms including a sword holding one. Highlighting is still a pain in the arse with my nerve damage but the more I do the more comfortable I am getting with it.

~BtW

Oh nice!

They look really good in formation in like that. I tend to forget there's a big picture to miniature painting where the squad also has to look good as a whole rather than simply individually. Good work!

Hmmm, I'd suggest just snowing the bases a bit more. There's large areas of grey that I think might look better covered up.

Otherwise, pretty good, man!

What do you use for snow?

A mix of Baking Soda, white (pva) glue and water .... works pretty well.... yeah there are a few spots to touch up and I will probably add a little bit of grass and other bits to a few of the larger bases. Want to try a technique for making icicles on Bran's base to add a little to it...

New Update: Long Fangs and Swiftclaw Attack Bike. Gonna spend the weekend working on the other swiftclaws, although I am running out of Shining Gold and Badab Black and not likely to be able to get anymore for a couple of weeks, which will suck as I'm trying to get my Company done before I get distracted rebuilding my Word Bearers with the new codex. I'm just glad my wolves have got some love from me finally and i can field them finally! Looking forward to the WW Campaign to flex there muscles a bit

Without further ado:

Gonna post the SC Attack Bike in the next post as not o overload this one :)

~BtW

Oh very nice bike! Looks like its kicking up hella snow as it's rolling.

Is that the base size we need to use for Attack Bikes?

I have no idea how to base bikes or cavalry. Haven't gone that far into the game yet.

I've seen them based on the dred sized (60mm) bases, like I did, many times. But the Attack bikes don't seem to have a base in their kit. I personally prefer to have then on one. As for the reg bikes, they come with "cavalry" size bases, but I am swapping mine out with ones that match the rest of my force, the "Runic Mountain" ones from Secret Weapon Miniatures that I like.

~BtW

Thanks Rift Blade. Still trying to get the icicles to look the way i want them to but having difficulty. If they end up working I'll definitely post pics, if not then I'll post that as well...

~BtW

Looking forward to it, Brother Word!

On a side note, I notice you got yourself a nice new sig-banner, haha. Representing that Redmaw, huh? :o

EDIT-

On a side note, hey I was paging through the Space Wolf White Dwarf issue I finally got my hands on. I noticed one of the dudes painted a Bran Redmaw rendition, and it reminded me of the army you're working on. Have you seen it?

In my opinion, not a very epic Redmaw, but he did this nifty thing where he used the old school Space Wolf backpacks with the dual wolf-heads on the side, and painted the wolf heads black with a red snout, same with the Wolf-head helmet. Nifty idea, methinks!

Nope I haven't seen it sounds cool though. If you can scan and post pix that would be great. What number WD is that issue?

Got a chance to field Redmaw today and he did awesome but I need a bigger fen wolves pack around him for the LoS, as he has no armour save unless I missed something. He does have FNP but a 1/3 chance to "ingnore" a wound is meh...

Gonna do some more reading and see if I missed anything...

Easier done than said!

Forgot the issue, I think it's a UK edition. The file is missing the front page, hah

THAT is frigging awesome!!!!!!

Figure out what issue it is if you can. I'd like to track it down and see the rest of this guys army....

Thanks for posting it!

Think I may repaint my backpack on my Bran Redmaw to match that...it's just a very cool look!

Seems to be issue 358, from the looks of it, but I think it's UK, cuz the pricing on the order page is in euros and pounds. US might be 357? or 359?

Apart from that, there's no other pics of this guy's work. I think it was a single-mini project, but there is a nifty guide on how to paint golden wolf heads, which I will be trying out on this Ulrik the Slayer model I just acquired.

Hmmmmm... the smell of OOP metal. Love it!

Yeah, I just noticed your Redmaw model also has the Wolf-Head backpacks. I love those. The black and red scheme would probably complement your darker gray armor more than this guy's baby blue. Give it a try!

Wish it was easier to get ahold of the backpacks with the wolfheads. Already have a ton of SW bitz and buying the sprue from GW for just one part is silly, and none of the bitz sites seem to have them. Although there are some aftermarket ones that I have seen on ebay for sale in Oz that look pretty good. Just hate to pay the shipping on out of country purchases. I need 4 or 5 more of them for my Rune Priests, Wolf Priests and WGBL I have in the works...

~BtW

Oh and thanks for that issue number...gonna try to track it down
