-Volsung-
Hey has anyone here read this book? I heard it involves the Space Wolves. Is it a worthy read? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259180-the-emperors-gift/ Share on other sites

Lord Ragnarok
Mr. Volsung, there is another thread on this. Please use the searchy. It is a VERY good book for SW's in my opinion. Almost as much as for GK fans. So if you are a fan of both, like me, it's a double score. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259180-the-emperors-gift/#findComment-3152177 Share on other sites
-Volsung-
Oh the search! Hah! My bad, forgot about that :D Thanks! I shall probably purchase it, then Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259180-the-emperors-gift/#findComment-3152232 Share on other sites
Jonny Wolf
Without a doubt, it is the best GW book I've read and ranks up with one of the best sci-fi novels I've ever read. It. Is. Excellent. -Volsung-
Oh ok! Thanks, guys! I think I'm definitely gonna go for this book then. Had some really bad read from BL before, so I get hesitant about cashing out. Russ Brother 92
I'd suggest reading the Space Marine Battles books - they're all really good, but imo. all of A D-B's work for BL is ace :) I have yet to get the Emp's Gift but can't wait to read it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259180-the-emperors-gift/#findComment-3154841 Share on other sites
-Volsung-
Wow... Just wow... I just finished reading the book. I don't even know what to say, brothers. I literally opened the book in the afternoon yesterday, started reading, and didn't stop till it was over, and that was about a few hours ago. I was expecting something trite and cheesily grim dark, like you're average white dwarf or codex piece of fluff. Hell, even the Blackmane saga books I read I only thought were average and worth reading only for a fluffy history lesson. This, however... Man. I need to take a seat and ponder on this book. 5/5 review, brothers. Hands down. Thanks for all the recommendation! Commissar Volker
It is indeed excellent, I devoured it in only a couple of sessions over the Yuletide break (and was rather sleepy the next days after minimal sleep as a result). Surprisingly well written. Oh, other than one point where he references the Badab War, but it hadn't happened at that point. Beef
Yes i broke my no hardback rule for this book (and betrayer) due to the debates surrounding AD-B and SW, It was reasonably written. It was no literary work of art howevr the SW were pertrayed in a very good light and therefore AD-B gets a thumbs up from me for this book. I broke mine as well, but only due to a X-mas giftcard to Amazon. I'll sell the book to a local store once the paperback copy comes out. WLK Same here although the new paper back HH series seem to be bigger, same size as the hardbacks so I am not sure I will bother sell mine. Although like you I got a good deal from amazon. Wispy
Gift is probably the only 40k book I've genuinely enjoyed. Usually I'm amused but never satisfied like I was here. Usually I'm amused but never satisfied like I was here. would you say that was because of the GK? Or the SW or the way it was written, for me it was the SW bits that made it great.
