@Spafe:  When I complete a Deathwatch, I'll post a photo.

@ShadowSong7007: Thanks.  Preparing the batreps is a lot of work, but it's a labor of love. I hope to put together another batrep this month.

In the meantime...

The weather has decided to cooperate, so I've managed some pretty good close ups of Henchmen.  The glare is pretty bad on some of the models, but overall I am happy with the photos.

Enslaved Medusae (counts-as Daemonhost) and Cyber-Mastiff (counts-as Warrior Acolyte)

The Medusae model is pretty much straight out of the blister.

I removed the purity seal from the Cyber-Mastiff's right forward shoulder and replaced it with an Inquisition 'I' that I shaved off of a Grey Knight stormbolter.

Genswick Black Guard (counts-as Warrior Acolytes)

I reversed the model on the left to show the knife and satchel bit (from the Cadian kit) that I added to each Genswick model.

Since Inquisitor Baptiste is a radical, I played around with the idea of including a Squat in my Henchmen Warband, but decided against it.  Instead, I've used one of the Squat models from my bits box to make a new objective.  I call it, 'The Last Squat.'  :)

Haha, love the objective. Could use it against nid players as their 'dessert' objective. They missed one!

Cant wait to see the squat painted up. Really like the genwick warriors, is there a reason you went with bolters over stormbolters? (ie points jsut that tight/dont like models etc)

The role of the Genswick is to serve as ablative wounds for my Psykers and Inquisitor Baptiste.  As such, I didn't want to spend too many points on them.  Also, at BS 3, I find it hard to justify spending too many points on weaponry for them.  At one point I had armed one of them with a plasma gun, but after a game or two, I realized that the 10 points were better spent elsewhere.

Thanks guys. smile.png

@BBL: I have a game tomorrow against my friend's Orks. I am playing at his place, so I don't know what the lighting and terrain will be like. Nevertheless, I am bringing my camera. If the table looks good and the lighting is sufficient I will shoot the game for my next batrep.

Meanwhile...

Sadly, the lighting and terrain were not sufficient to shoot a batrep.  Nor did I play my friend's Orks.  I did, however, get in my first game against a Necron army built using the newest Necron codex.  The army was led by the special character Nemesor Zahndrekh. It was fairly vehicle heavy, and I am proud to announce that I shot down my first flyer.  The Quad-Gun worked like a charm, taking 2 hull points off of the Night Scythe on the Movement Phase the flyer arrived. My Grey Knights' psycannon + Prescience finished it during on my Shooting Phase.

We played Purge the Alien and for a while it looked like it would end in a draw, but by Turn 7 I managed to pull ahead and win the game ended, 9 KP to 6 KP.

My buddy and I are planning on playing our batrep game on the 24th at my local Battle Bunker.

Oh, and just a quick modeling update.  My Iron Brotherhood models have finally arrived so I can begin converting them into Herakli (counts-as GKs).

Also, I've been fiddling around with the Talos kit.  I've decided that I can't bulk it out enough to serve as my Skitarii Cataphractii (counts-as Dreadknight), so I've come up with a new design.  I am going use the Dave Taylor Talos design for the Cataphracti's head, torso, and arms, but I am going to add further bulk to the model by mounting the Talos portion on the abdomen and legs of a Necron Triarch Stalker model.

I'll have to cover up the Necron markings, flatten out some of the rounded edges and put rivets galore along the length of the legs, but I think I can make it work.

Here is my Herakli (counts-as GK) prototype.

From 40K Wiki:

Herakli - The Herakli were Skitarii heavy fire support specialists. These massive, vat-grown cybernetic soldiers were as large as Space Marines and were capable of carrying heavy laser weapons and multi-barrelled Autocannons with ease. The Herakli wore heavy red robes and cowls that were covered in Mechanicus sigils and were protected by thick ceramite amour plating that covered their chests and shoulders.

I have changed my mind. Tech-Priest Secutor Calixis will be operating the Cataphractii.  The Justicar in the GK Strike Squad will be a Herakli.

Highly inspired work here brother!  Thank you for all of the great ideas, now if I only had the time to paint or vconvert any of them!  kepp up to great work, it is always a blast to catch-up on yuor thread!  Thank you!!!!

I want to add mechanical spider-like legs to my Cataphractii (i.e. my Mechanicus count-as Dreadknight conversion), but the most fitting match in the GW line is the $50 Necron Triarch Stalker kit. As well as being expensive addition to an already expensive conversion, I've seen the Triarch model in person and it's going to be difficult to fit it on a GW large oval base.

A couple of days ago, as I was searching about the Internets for an alternative I stumbled upon the Spider Robogear model, made by IMEX.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NjEBgKKEv7k/Tmye9_XNtJI/AAAAAAAAAIc/47dNKAXS_oU/s1600/spider_2.jpg

A quick search on Amazon turned up a Spider Robogear kit, NIB, for only $4 (+ $5 shipping).

And as you can see in this photo of someone else's homemade Triarch Stalker conversion, the span of the legs is not that much bigger than a Dreadnought base and thus smaller than that of the Triarch model.

The Robogear legs are much cheaper and a better scale.

The Robogear Spider arrived Saturday. Using my Dreadknight's base as a template, you can see that the Spider's dimensions work well on the GW large oval base.

It is not uncommon for 40K artwork depicting an Imperial host to include Mechanicus elements. These can range from mighty Titans to Techpriests to diminutive robed menials scurrying around under foot. The latter is what I thought about when I first saw Troll Forged Miniatures' Cyborgs.

I bought a set of these little guys back in 2011 and they've been sitting in my bits box, waiting for just the right project, ever since. As you can see from my first photo in this post, I think these little fellas have finally found a home. smile.png
