Rhino project

Hey there all.

Well I picked up a new Rhino so my troops don't have to run everywhere and thought I would paint the interior this time as I lazily missed this part on my Land Raider. So here I go...

First off I hinged the top hatches using a 1mm drill bit and some 1mm wire. Works really well and easy to do.

Next I hinged the side hatches using 2mm magnets. The result is surprisingly good but if I was to do it again I would use the same technique as the top hatches.

After doing the hatches and painting the interior it seemed dark so I sort of had a brain spasm and thought I might as well go and light the thing... with no equipment or soldering experience

After about a week of looking at soldering tutorials and getting my hands on some stuff. This is where I am.

Leds fitted and soldered. Even used shrink wrap :D :D

Unfortunately I had well and truly glued on the front of the Rhino before I decided I would light it. I couldn't hinge the front to insert the battery so I made a hatch on the bottom.

This left no space for the switch so I put that on the inside of a side door.

So far this is what the inside looks like.

It's been great fun learning how to solder and build simple circuits. I would defiantly recommend it :)

Next post I should have started on the outside.

Cheers Vim :D

Thanks for the "why didn't I think of that" moment with the 2mm magnets. Totally gonna do that now.

You could even paint battle damage inside the door, so that a wrecked rhino looks wrecked when left on the table....

Hey all

Thanks for the feedback.

@AlexCrute. Notice on the last photo of the previous post. The hinge on the right hand side fits better than the one on the left. This is definitely a case of measure twice, cut once :P If I had gotten the rest as good as that one I think I would have been happy with the result. So go for it.

For everyone interested in the electronics. I used a 9v battery, 2* red LED(2v 20mA) which equals 270ohms resistor...

or use this site to calculate :ermm:

A photo of the interior without red light and...

...what do you think of the wire catcher. Is it SM? I kind of like it but not sure.

Cheers Vim
