Inquisitor Engel
Hey guys. So I'm planning on doing some pre-heresy conversions, including of terminators and the lack of studded terminator legs has me in a pickle. I've seen some mention of railroad spikes, but I just needed the stud bit on the end. Does anyone have any advice on which ones will be the right size? Looking to replicate the looks Tyberos has going on. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/AlternativeFW/xlarge/tyberosp8.jpg Suggestions are most welcome! CovertToaster
Greenstuff. You should be able to add studs like that to any armour pretty easily. lhg033
am sure i read on here somewhere about someone using the beads froma water filter as a good way of doing rounded studs. Guilty as charged! Britta filters work great...and with 1 single filter you will have 1.000.000.000.000 lifetime's worth of studs. Rune Priest Ridcully
If you have not bought anything yet, it might be an idea to wait and get the new starter set as the terminators in that are pretty studly. ShinyRhino
The technique shown in this tutorial works just as well with legs and arms: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...showarticle=716 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259271-studs-where-and-what-size/#findComment-3154453 Share on other sites
Yodhrin
I use Grandt Line plastic rivets myself, much easier than fannying about with greenstuff trying to make them all the same size. Available here for people in the UK in 0.8, 1.1, and 1.5mm diameters; no idea where you'd get them in the US. I'd go with the 1.1mm for Tyberos-style detailing; the 0.8's are a titch on the small side, and the 1.5s look best on vehicles. Pretty much any hobby store that caters to modelling in some form or another. I pick up the same Grandt supplies from a toy train hobby store in the local area. At least I know what to look for now! :) Now I just need to figure out how to do his fancy little plate at the top of his ... well plate. The_Chaplain
Just popping in to say that water filter pellets cut to fit work a lot better than trying to greenstuff the studs themselves. Model train rivets as others have suggested will also work, but depending on price and shipping costs may be more expensive. Nintura
am sure i read on here somewhere about someone using the beads froma water filter as a good way of doing rounded studs. You beat me to it. Forgeworlds painting masterclass books suggest this. You get millions with just one water filter. They use them for rivets on their tanks.
