shaun03
Hi, can some one point me out to a link which has the current update. I check GW website and they only have the older update. I drop the ball and forgot to pick up the copy of wd with the update and my local shops are sold out. Seahawk
It's not available anywhere. Have to get it from the White Dwarf. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259443-update-in-wd/#findComment-3156092 Share on other sites
Azekai
These WD updates are a joke- how are you supposed to use them if they are only available to a select few/limited time? It's like if windows 7 was only available for a month and if you missed it you are stuck with vista . . . I am not sure GW even understands how updates are supposed to work. They should reprint codex: daemons or better yet, stick it in a free PDF file like the apoc datasheets. Seahawk
Free =/= Profits though. They will have it online...in the new digital Daemons codex, whenever that gets released. Just like the Storm Talon rules are only in the WD and in the digital SM codex. The Ork Bomma has managed to slip through the net so far, but you still have to pay for it. Now that GW has teamed up with iderp, expect nothing but FAQ's to ever be free again... I want Screamers now, and Flamers more than I did, but I had to go hunting through the internet to find a site still selling it b/c all the hobby shops around here were already sold out by the time I could get to one. breng77
Which means more subscribers if people want to ensure getting this stuff when it comes for their army, or at least extra orders from local shops. Panzerbjørn
lolwut? So if I decided to start daemons now, it would be to late to get the rules O.o Kinda stupid, especially since that is exactly what I was thinking of doing  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259443-update-in-wd/#findComment-3229990 Share on other sites
Seahawk
Ayup, pretty much. There are places to find it on the internets, but as per our policy we cannot post them. I'm sure a quick search will be all you need. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259443-update-in-wd/#findComment-3230241 Share on other sites
Shuggnuggath
I found this frustrating as well. I got a friend to photocopy the update for me. If they put it on the GW site as a free PDF they would sell a lot more models. There is no point buying models if you can't get hold of the rules. I honestly think they should do White Dwarf as an Online Magazine. At the end of the year they could release a 'Best of White Dwarf' as a hardback Annual for holiday period. Circus Nurgling
They could just sell a "supplementary codex" for 4-5 bucks, that covers everything. All the updates. Throw in some artwork that isn't already in the codex to make it worth a few bucks, and maybe some backstory fluff, and I'll be happy. Think of it as an expansion I guess, until the next ed. comes out. Sure, it'll make some people mad, for being forced to buy something to keep their army up to date, but it's a lot better than not having access to the update at all, or being left behind by the new edition and new codexes out. Cool idea, but knowing GW such a book would probably be closer to 20-25 bucks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259443-update-in-wd/#findComment-3232345 Share on other sites
Seahawk
What, like the Chapter Approved books that were released for 3rd edition, another time when they had lots of rules printed in WD like they do now? Perish the thought! So smart! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259443-update-in-wd/#findComment-3232353 Share on other sites
Morollan
Ayup, pretty much. There are places to find it on the internets, but as per our policy we cannot post them. I'm sure a quick search will be all you need. Exactly. GW is kidding themselves if they think that people will hunt high and low for a back issue of WD instead of searching on the internet for a free download. Urauloth
I'd love to take a unit of the updated flamers since I've heard good things about them, but I missed out on that WD issue and I'm sure as hell not buying miniatures I can't get hold of rules for. If they'd waited a month and stuck them up as a pdf or something, they'd have sold me some minis. Hannibal.Lictor
I have been looking all over for the Update on the interwebs. ALl I get are FAQs and the codex. What the hell am I doing wrong? Shaggy12009
Making it a free download would reduce white dwarf sales. If only they would reprint them... Spacefrisian
The best move gw could do is to provide the rules with the actual model. And 4 or 5 bucks is way to much for 6 pieces of paper, half of it being for fantasy.
