The Crimson Knights Space Marines Chapter

[imageright][/imageright] Origins

The Chapter now known today as the Crimson Knights were formed in the nineteenth Founding, hailing from one of many Feudal Worlds - Crondia. The Crimson Knights are not strangers to war; war was a large part of culture on Crondia, as the planet was in the black powder age. Not much information is available on Crondia to the Imperium, as many documents and works of literature were burned when the so-called "witches of the sky" scouted out the planet. What IS known about the planet is that four kingdoms existed and spoke individual languages, two of which were primarily farmers and the other two kingdoms revolutionaries; one side wanted to stick to what is now called the "Old Ways" by the remaining citizens on the planet, while the other kingdoms wanted to develop machines, new technology and weaponry to generally assist the local population.

After Crondia was discovered by the Imperium and research was done on the planet, it was clear that the planet would be more than suitable as an Adeptus Astartes recruiting ground. The Imperium made first contact with the locals by offering gifts, mainly useful minerals - most of which were never before seen by the Crondians, as they were mined off-world in various Imperial domains. The population accepted the gifts, using them to make jewelry, machines and sometimes even weapons to gain an advantage over the other kingdoms. The Imperium abandoned the planet, taking note of its location and allowing the population to grow and develop for several decades.

Forty seven years later, the Imperials revisited the planet, noticing that the war had escalated and several new kingdoms had formed over time. The materials offered by the Imperium were now very rare, and much sought after by the peasants of the warring kingdoms; it seemed that each mineral had hundreds of uses, if not thousands. In fact, some of the small disagreements between the kingdoms revolved entirely around the materials, greed being a major factor in the hostilities between the various states. The Imperium made use of the war-mongering populace, capturing the strongest knights and most promising squires on the planet, eventually forming a new Chapter. After training was complete and a sufficient amount of warriors were prepared, the Chapter was dubbed the Crimson Knights, primarily due to the crimson colour of the uniforms used by the kingdoms' militaries. At the time of creation, eight hundred and ninety seven Adeptus Astartes were battle-ready.

After the planet was deemed useless by the Imperium, the planet's local populace was entirely wiped out by the Raven Guard. Today, the planet is used as a Fortress World by the Crimson Knights, containing the armoury, barracks, chapels and other important components of a Chapter's Fortress-Monastery. The Chapter's documents are sealed in a large Librarium, which reveal the names of the kingdoms, classification of local languages and the population of Crondia at certain periods in the World's history.
