after reading some of the dwarf army book i came up with a idea that i would like to add to my space wolves army a slayers unit. pretty much it would be 5 WG in TDA with 2 ccw. some may get wolf claws but alot will be frostweapons and powerweapon. but the question is would this work in game play?

now my converting question i would like to have a wolf priest in TDA(i know everyone said there better in PA) and i would like to give him ulrik's helm and i was going to use the chaplin in TDA as my main wolf priest for my army. how would i go about getting the heads off the 2 models and would it be easier if they were finecast other then metal? i have both said models in metal. i was also thinking of just making my own wolf priest in TDA with out his helm on so his beard can flow when he is killing some baddies.

thanks for reading and commenting

I have found straight off that having finecast helps when removing heads as you can use the same methods as you would for a plastic model ;)

I think it would be somewhat epic :P perhaps you could split the three guys up between three packs and have them as count-as MoTW when wanted, or the two main weapons (tag on a storm bolter or combi-weapon and they're wysiwyg for all situations whether you want them using two cc-weapons or using basic weaponry :)

Agreed. Below is my attempt at moving Ulrik's head onto a TDA. Below that are some examples of WG TDA I've come across that I found to be most successful at the conversion. RB92 has it right, though.. chopping off Ulrik's head was not only painful (in both meticulousness and effort) but now unfortunate and impractical. Since Ulrik is now finecast, those metal versions are timeless.. and should you ever want to repaint your army or whatever, they'll hold up to more punishment. I've been using one of my old Ulriks as a template and am making silicon cast-molds of his head and crozius for future use instead of chopping him up.

Here are the two examples:

And this here is DV8's converted Ulrik in PA. I'm showing this to demonstrate just how much work it is for even a seasoned hobbyist to remove Ulrik's head intact.

As to the 5 WG with assorted weapons... that's what make our WG superior. You just need to make sure you've addressed whether they'll need a SS to survive and/or ranged firepower or heavy hitters (t-hammers/c-fists) for situational tasks. Assuming you're not converting arm joints, I would just magnetize the arms.

Yea I drew up just a trial list for my slayers and this is what I came up with

Tda-th,pw

Tda- wc,wc

Tda-motw

Tda-hf,pw

Tda-cf,pw

I might change it and give them a storm bolter or combi weapon.

Yea I'll just go ahead a get both in finecast and just keep the metal ones as keep sakes. Now what would the best way to remove the heads?

@wulfebane- as always got to love your models.

This is how my wolf priest load out will be

Wolf priest grimnir highmountain

Tda

Combi-melta

Wolftail talisman

Wolftooth necklace

Saga of the beastslayer

I'm up for any comments on the load out. He will also be leading a squad of beastslayers in tda all with ss and different weapons.

@Russ brother 92 yea I normal modal my motw with 2 Ccw just to make it easy to be like that guys the motw(lol)

Thanks again all for the comments and help
