Shadows of Treachery

I'll acceed to the point RE navigators, but any Military Unit that cannot communicate effectively becomes useless, that was the problem with the Eisenstein. Point i'm ham fistedly trying to make is I don't think Pollux could have just beat Perturabo and then bimbled back to Terra. He strength of the message, and its effects of the Astropaths, meant that he had to go, as it was a now or never situation.

At the end of the story there is the description of Perturabo alone on his flagship. He was reviewing the entire battle and saw the estimated projections of the final outcome of the battle before the rout of the Imperial Fists fleet. He was depressed because he saw he had morally lost the battle, because he won only for the astophatic message (I think he knew about the message due to the extremely high power used and his astropaths probably suffered some damages).

Maybe at the end the Iron Warriors would have won but at a very high cost.

Sorry to bump and old thread but I just finished Shadows of Treachery last night (I am behind on my HH books). The Prince of Crows was excellent! However there

was one part of the story that did baffle me, the character known as the Raven, also one descriptive part about his armour blacker than the DA and the white raven being cut apart on his armour and another part explaining how sevatar had tortured him. Was this a 'rebel' Raven Guard? Or a possible Alpha Legion inflitration gone wrong? What's the story here?
