Warbringer
So i've been playing list making with some wolf guard terminators and with the new rules around frost axes and AP3 power weapons what do people think about a couple of Wolf Guard in a squad with Mark of the Wulfen instead? I mean they would have a storm bolter, power weapon and mark for 48pts which you can use the power weapon when you want but if you go up against anything with a 2+ save use the mark attacks and the extra attacks would be nice. Compared to its only 5pts more than having a powerfist and striking at I1? This might also help with challenges as you would be able to strike at initiative? Worth maybe throwing 1 in a squad? Not do-able. A model with MotW may not benefit from any Melee wargear. So the model will always have d6+1 S(user)/AP-/Rending attacks and will ignore any Melee wargear they may have. Ok is it still not a potentially useful build? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259774-wulfen-terminators/#findComment-3160439 Share on other sites
Jaton666
I was thinking of doing the same but maybe with a Storm Shield instead of the Storm bolter. Can MOW still use a Storm shield or not? Can MOW still use a Storm shield or not? yeah, no problems with that. I've even done this on a lone wolf once or twice for fun, to add berserker flavor to the reckless life of a lone wolf. Bonsai Monkey
Ive modelled one because it looks cool, but havnt played with them yet. I think its a cool idea but prob wont be as reliable as other set ups from what others have said. Used ghoul hands and cut aload out of the powerfist so it looks like he ripped it apart from the inside trying to get his claws out? If he doesnt work out as a WG, might use him as a LW? -Volsung-
From a modeller and painter's perspective, that sounds like one awesome conversion opportunity. Probably would have to use Ork arms or Nob arms to make it to scale, all muscular and bursting out of the TDA arm pieces. TheLastHuzzah
I'm playing with the idea of working a TDA w/ MotW into a pod that comes down with a Logan bomb: Turn 1 Drops: Pod1- Logan and Lf with MMs Pod2- TDAWG SB/PW/MotW, TDAWG WC/PF, TDAWG CML/SB/PW 4x WG CM/SB Pod3- GH 2x melta, Pax, WS Logan and LF will still be the hot target, but the WG pod should be a nasty surprise whether they hit an objective or drop near Logan. I'll advise once I put it on the table. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259774-wulfen-terminators/#findComment-3160698 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Rules-wise its quite viable, and I think Id consider giving him a stormshield with his stormbolter for the cheap squad buff.... Though at 2k you could also just toss it on a Lone Wolf with TDA for about the same points. Warbringer
I'm playing with the idea of working a TDA w/ MotW into a pod that comes down with a Logan bomb: This is what i've been playing around with could stick it on a SS guy and use it to buff the squad. The whole idea for me was the D6+1 attacks with the chance to rend, in maths MotW is better than a power sword, and considering power swords are AP3. I got some Maxmini werewolf heads and puppetswar were wolf arms which i've used to create the PA versions might just add greenstuff and make them up more. Commissar Volker
Storm bolter, storm shield and MOTW. With or without TDA works quite nicely. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259774-wulfen-terminators/#findComment-3161152 Share on other sites
