Logan Grimnar: revisited

SOut of all the Finecast stuff that came out, I am hard pressed to figure out why the heck GW did not do a resculpt of our special characters. I have seen plenty of kit bashed Logan's that have made my eyes bleed from their awesomeness and wonder just how hard could it be for GW to do the same and mass produce.

 

So with the changes to frost blades and frost axes in 6th edition and Logan being designated with a frost blade, I figure I might as well have some fun with my "version" of a counts-as.

 

1. The two-handed axe version of Logan has lost its coolness factor with me. Russ' blade on the cover of Prospero Burns along with a few other swords such as the Chaos Lord's in the new starter set (separate bit btw), swords are looking to be my new thing.

 

2. I was first thinking halberd type spear thingy but then got to thinking when combined with a feral model I started thinking of White Scars too much.

 

3. A big hefty broadsword gives me the thought of str +1 when swung one-handed. In the double-handed grip of a SW in TDA, I think it easily conveys str 8.

 

4. I think I need to either clip a integrated storm bolter arm from some GK termies or have to convert one. I find it hard to believe that "Logan" would take the time when switching from one handed to two ahnded grip that he takes the time to maglock his storm bolter. Plus a straight shout-out to the old model.

 

5. I think I want a younger "Logan". The Logan model as portrayed by GW seems to be getting along in his years a little more then I like. I would like some grey in his hair and beard, but I don't want Father Time.

 

Anyone else done any custom Logans that want to share pics?

I think option 3 would look awesome.

I found it and yup it does say frost blade. I cryed in my mjod a bit there but I will still go ahead with my plan for him with my axe idea even if I don't like gw axe rule. And yea I think raiding the gk box for the storm bolter is a good idea I'll be using that one my self

Chef, remember that the rules entry defines it as a Frost Blade, so it can be modeled as whatever you want without worrying that it will suddenly have to follow the new axe rules.

Yea you are right on that one. The sword idea is very nice idea. But I was still think about going the axe route becouse I got this crazy idea of my Logan run with 2 chain axes(after listening to deathwolf).

Dual, short-handled chain axes with large blades and cheeks. Fast when swung independently, strong when swung as one.

 

I might do something like that for a WGTDA for some kind of loadout.

Lol yea I'm going to make 2 different set of arms the 2h version where the axes are 2 headed. And then a dual wielding set with the storm bolter and All. It's part of my "Logan's" fluff that he was fighting some orks and with a final death blow to the war boss it broke his power axe so then he took up a ork nobz 2h chainaxe to fight with then after the battle had the iron priest remake it into what it is now. Now I just got to model it lol.

Oh and I'm doing that with my motw wgtda guy to lol
