WIP Blood Angels Death Company

Recommended Posts

Way too long since my last post on these forums, but recently I picked up some space marines again to paint so why not post here? ;)

These miniatures are for display purposes, going for an 'Eavy Metal style of painting.

First guy looks a bit glossy :( forgot to add matte medium in the black paint (Vallejo Model Color), fortunately he doesn't look like this in real life. They're quite hard to photograph actually.

This project is actually in a much further state currently, I will take new pictures very soon.

Comments & questions are welcome!

The highglights are done by first adding a medium blue, then a light blue. I have gotten this question a several times, so I might do a tutorial on it soon.

Here are some updated pictures. Again: these guys are very hard to get right on camera <_<

Those are really nice models you've got there. The blue highlight on the black looks so much better than using grey.

I've seen a lot of figures held in a pin vice for painting, and I was wondering how you affix them to there bases, and if you have any trouble with them coming off again?

You have two options: remove the pin from the model, easy to do with some gentle pulling and wiggling around, and then superglue it to the base. When doing this (especially with gaming models) you must scrape off some of the paint and primer where the two surfaces join, otherwise you will be glueing paint to paint, which will come off very easily.

Second option is to drill a hole in your base and pin the figure down, this is what I usually do.

I hope this helps!

Very nice and crisp painting, I'm jealous! Hoping to get a Death Company Squad of my own to ally my Templars with occasionally in the future, just because they look cool and have cool fluff
