Space Wolves Music

So I've decided that when my two squads of thunderwolf cavalry charge a large mob of orks or decide to take on a warlord class titan, I want them to have some awesome music to kill/be killed to. I'm thinking metal bands would probably be the best genre and I know a few that may work :Hammerfall, Dragonforce, Disturbed, etc. However I would like the forum opinion on this subject. So please post any and all songs, bands, genres, etc. that you can think of.

Thanks-Trojan Rabbit

Provided its loud, fast and angry you cannot go too wrong. Could try Amon Amarth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3WJX1cIuY4...feature=related or some Hammerfall for something a little more lyrical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hEDJsABr-k...feature=related

Every time I hear it, I think of Space Marines in general.. not so much Wolves, per se, but maybe a more devout-in-the-Emperor chapter. The whole song doesn't entirely fit (mostly the beginning), but it makes me think of like opening credits for a tv/anime show or a 40k-centric music video.

I personally love some Hammerfall, Manowar and Amon Amarth (c'mon they're heavy metal vikings!!) - although for being in the mood to run an army of beer-swilling, axe-wielding psychopathic proto-humans to war, wading through blood, guts and glory it has to be something heavier and darker - Iron Maiden (mainly The Trooper and These Colours Don't Run) or some Machine Head
Ummm... the Man of Steel trailer music?

Curious why everyone likes metal for Wolves. Or anything 40k seems like, hah!

I just love metal in general haha but sticking on some Amon Amarth or Iron Maiden whilst playing with violent creatures in a realm of bloodshed, horror and eternal war just seems 'right' haha :)

3 simple words:

MAN

O

WAR

Also this:

Which was posted many moons ago in a simmilar thread when even I was a young pup on these forums. This thread pops up every few months, just like the 'Can space marines reproduce' one. (Incoming Hammer-of-Moderation for reminding you all).

Amon Amarth. Nothing more nothing less. The only fitting SW music and lyrics. In fact this music made me come back to painting. When I play I only hear dice rolling.

You could also try some Powerwolf but they are nothing more than a -wolf named band. Nothing to do with wolves and vikings.

I suppose we were due for another music thread. We get one once every 3-4 months. But that's because Metal and SW go hand in hand.

My personal favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZaj7RDHMFQ...feature=related It's a christian band, and actually the song is about the end of the world, but when these guys come to town, every single one of my atheist/agnostic friends come out of the wood work for the sheer talent. When it gets to whispering "the stars begin to fall" and I'm painting/playing, all I can see are SW drop pods reigning down on a chaos ridden planet.

but you can't ignore the fact that there's actually a warhammer metal based band called Bolt Thrower. I dig a lot of their stuff for painting. Real 80s death metal feel

I can (and I bet most of us can) attest to the power of metal and spit out our favorite bands/songs for hours. Honestly I was raised listening to punk/hardcore, I didn't get a good feel for metal till my early 20's though.

Ensiferum- Already suggested, but I would check them out for certain. Folk and Black metal make for a great combination.

Bolt Thrower- Also suggested, but it's a band who's early albums are about Warhammer. Kind of a must , if you ask me.

Sabaton- Another power metal band who's songs are primarily about war, their vocalist has a very unique voice.

Voivod- One of my favorite bands, ever. More on the thrash end, but very progressive and each album is an entire concept about such things as creating a world in a laboratory only to be transported into it and taken prisoner by its inhabitants!!

Other bands I like that you could look up in the same vein are: Rhapsody of Fire, Blind Guardian, Elvenking, Emperor, Morbid Angel, Tyr, Bathory, Equilibrium, and Turisas.

End of Line

Metal and Space wolves? I always thought they listened to more traditional folk music, like

or Gaelic or Celtic music. Most of the stuff that the inhabitants of Fenris can create musicwise is probably either easy to bring along on travels, flutes, drums or maybe bagpipes. The might be able to create hurdy-gurdys, violines, jew's harps and more refined instruments but I doubt the wolves themselves play them. If anyone play music in the Fang or the ships, it is probably the thralls or kaerls who brings along instruments. Doubt that a thrall or kaerl can walk up to an Iron Priest and say;

-Yo Michael Ironpriest! I had an idea that you can make for me, I want a instrument with string and a voice-box that enhance the strings I would pluck on that instrument, chop chop now.

So the the instruments are probably acoustic.

But if they listen to anything from the 21 st century I think they listen to

. ;)

I am wondering if anyone who have threaded around in the other Chapter forums if every Marine is a metal head, I know that the chaos worshippers are Metal heads and somehow always listen to the the newest metal band there is at the moment.
