Arryn
Gday everyone, just wondering if anyone has playtested dropping 8-10 DC in a pod with bolters and a few powerfists (or even axes?)? If so how does this unit go and what enemies does it excel/fail against? Thanks! SamaNagol
That unit doesn't even need a Chaplain/Reclusiarch. It will walk through nearly anything in the backfield. It will terrify your opponent for ~225pts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3161627 Share on other sites
Mezkh
Yes it is good. Compared to Sternguard, you sacrifice the special ammo for a couple of powerfists, WS5, natural FNP and Fearless, which makes your 'Forced to deal with' unit harder to counter by combat/morale. The major weakness is Precision Strikes. Lose the WS5 specials and it's 'just' a unit of 2A tough marines. Arryn
Interesting point re: sternguard.... a pod with a squad of those led by Tycho is another possibility... i am trying to keep a DC theme tho Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3161761 Share on other sites
Remtek
Another advantage is no characters. So with good positioning you can keep your power weapon DC living longer. I'm painting my 10 boltgun DC as we speek :) Havent playtested em yet, only pod is ready. Dallas Drake
Yes, but support it. Don't just drop it in solo & expect it to do miracles. - Dallas Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3162305 Share on other sites
ryanmcc
Well said Dallas, I'll keep that in mind. It's part of a whole list, if one unit could do it all it wouldnt be much of a game. -Ryan Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3162313 Share on other sites
DominicJ
awesome for disruption, but it will die. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3162381 Share on other sites
appiah4
Drop Pod Bolter DC and Strenguard at the same time. Now watch your opponent change his whole game plan. Drop Pod Bolter DC is awesome. Arryn
So if you guys were to take a heavily DC themed list at 1500 points, what would you take? (theme > WAAC) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3162990 Share on other sites
SamaNagol
DC lists and WAAC do not go together But putting 8 DC in a pod with Corbulo and a Librarian is a liberty Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3163407 Share on other sites
7 Mile
Not to mention they have rage, +2 A on the charge after double tapping with the bolter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/259841-dc-in-drop-pods/#findComment-3163620 Share on other sites
Zedrenael
I played in a game this past weekend and used a 10 man DC with Bolters to good effect. They did scatter off target, but if it was not for a dreaded iron will librarian I would have wrecked that squad.
