Well my brothers I picked up my copy of Dark Vengance today the chaos force will be added to my Night Lords while after alot of thinking I've decided that all the Dark Angel bits will go towards my new loyalist army.

So heres my first test mini for my ANGELS OF VENGENACE

So my brothers what do you think I know my painting skills suck but I'll take all the advice I can get.

Many thanks

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is this:

If you're going to take the time to paint them, you should take the time to cleanup extra flash and smooth out the sprue spots. On the Power Fist, right below the thumb is a glaring spot where extra sprue hasn't been removed and detracts from the model over all. The mold lines on the legs and back pack detract from this.

Even a table top painted army that has been fully cleaned is a wonderful thing. I think with a little more prep work, this will be a wonderful paint job.

Best,

Paul

A nice start, but it needs a bit more to help break up the black. Bits of metallics, a splash of color here and there... I know when the squad markings go on, it will go a LONG way toward doing that. I would do something with the soft parts of the armor other than just leaving them black with highlights. Just sort of break up the model a bit. For specifics, I personally think the Aquila looks better with the black armor being done in warmer tones, brown-bone rather than the grey-white you seem to have going on. That might just be me.

Obviously cleaner highlights will come with practice and time, and I use a very similar method to you for my highlights on armor. Some don't care for that style, but I think it's great for an army, so keep on keeping on with that.

A couple of my AoV, to illustrate the added bits of color. Veteran Brother Idrael, a couple members of a tac squad, and 1st Co. Command Squad The first guy's got robes, so you lose a little of the plain-ness from the legs, the tac photo was to illustrate the base design, and the Terminators are a little focused on the Apothecary, but I think it illustrates the need for added detail especially for black models.
