Drunken Angel
With prescience being more popular and bolters getting a lift especially on death company. I am looking at taking more single LC's. It seems to me you will get more mileage from re-rolling hits with either preferred enemy or prescience, sure the sword or maul gives you an extra attack if you take a pistol. If you take a bolter and a LC you get the ranged shooting re-rolls plus re-rolled hits with prescience and then the to wound re-rolls off the claws. Has anyone done this how did it work out? Re-rolls on wounds is very usefull against higher toughness models. The only time I can see claws being less useful is when you run a chaplain but I am a little off on those chaps as I only really wanted to run Lemartes or Astorath and points dont always run to them now with libbys stepping up. Black_Sky
If you ever ran a libby + lightning claw assault squad in the previous codex, you'll know exactly how devastating a charge from such a squad can be. It's just a pity the death company cannot be armed with claws :cuss
Sixestohit
For the same price as 6 and a half claws grab a chaplain and then they all reroll their wounds anyway :cuss Back to the op though: If you're going claw then bolter is a good choice with it. I always armed my power fist sergeants with bolters for the same reason, what's the point in a pistol when many time the squad will rapid fire anyway! If I'm going power weapon I personally prefer axe now, but I think if I only had the choice between claw or sword I'd probably still take sword. For no other reason than I like to roll more dice! James.

Red Fury
Death Company does not have the option of taking Lighting Claws, or Storm Bolters either. So not really a problem. Fists and Axes are pretty boss in the DC though. Even at I1 they are somewhat 'hidden' within the squad.
CitadelArmyGuy
For models who have the option to take a Lightning Claw, the LC is generally better than a Power Sword. A RAS Sarge with 4 Power Sword attacks kills 1.00 MEQ, versus 3 LC attacks kills 1.13 MEQ. Granted, the Standard Deviation for the Sword is a bit more forgiving since failing to-hit all 4 attacks is less likely than failing all 3. For every hit you do get though, obviously the LC makes the most of them. Problem with the Sword is that it directly competes against a LC and an Axe (all 15pts). At I4 the LC is roughly better, and for maximum damage the Axe is better. Swords really only come out on top versus T3 targets.
Remtek
Not sure what unit the LC is in regard to. LC Boltgun seems like a strong setup, but i cant picture any units doing this, only sergeants i guess. It's certainly viable,if i had to pick between sword and LC i guess i'd go with LC, but i would not pick any of them. They look really awesome though
