jpwic
Well I just thought to finally introduce myself after being registered to the site for over five years!!! Well I last played a game of 40k in 4th and I think I had played a whole 5 games at like 750 points back then. But after many years of saying I`m going to start painting my stuff, I`m actually starting to paint my stuff, mainly marines for now.. I`m working up a DIY chapter.. Although I wonder if I can get away with using the FW Minotaur stuff as I absolutely love that range, but am not a big fan of the colour scheme. And before signing off, does anyone have any idea`s on getting a GF to play? I know she has said she might be interested in painting but isn`t sure if she would like playing (although I am starting to teacher her M:TG) Cheers eh! Captain Juan Juarez
Welcome! There is much to see and do! I personally currently skip the whole painting thing as it gets in the way of building and playing, the two things I like best out of the four components that make the hobby. As for partners.. Don't be pushy! If she just wants to build or paint, let her and try and give her a glimpse in to the universe by commenting on the units shes painting and the like. You can also try and show that there is also an education and intelligent aspect to the game; it teaches you to think clearly and about how to plan, then react to failed plans. I think a lot of the scepticism had by partners is that it's just "playing with toys" but it's so much bigger than that. Most of all though, find out what interests her about it and go with that. Olis
Hail and a belated welcome, brother! My advice for you is not to push her into playing - let her paint for now and then gently introduce the idea of a game after she has some painting under her belt (probably a squad vs squad match) and see how she takes it. If it's positive, then trickle in other units, one at a time (or more, if she wants), if it's negative, well, drop it. Let her take the initiative if things look shaky, let her go at her own pace. Basically, all what I'm saying is a reiteration of what Captain Juan Juarez said. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260028-hi-there/#findComment-3164650 Share on other sites
