Basing will be my February vow once available and for grins another Brotherhood of the Angels article. Which reminds me, I have some reading to do and see how many articles are worthy of some pearls.

Despite the boards' difficulties the past month, I see the Path continued strong... Completions remained within the average range of 50-53 (so no leaks there) and the completion rate reached 84%(!) - only November had a comparable high level of commitment. Congratulations to all - this is a truly great event!

 

The Path has also aided the DAs performance on the LPC front where currently we enjoy the lead with 23 completions and a completion rate of 30% - the highest so far.

 

So keep true to the Path - the Black Pearl is just a month away!

The honoured sons of the lion continue to forge ahead on their path to redemption despite the turmoil and conflict they had to face each day, esepcially during the period of December and January with all it's distractions. A total of 82 battle brothers set out on their journey in September with another 12 joining them in October, a further 12 newcomers in November and a magnificent 15 in December followed by only five new recruits in January  for a grand total of 126 individual participants so far. Many have remained faithful on the Path to Redemption while others have renewed their faith with multiple oaths of moment. Some have deviated and others have tried to return.

As the month of January ended the closure date was postponed to the thrid week of February. We continue to create history as this event becomes the longest such event in the long history of our DA forum and that of the B+C as a whole. The long awaited Codex Dark Angels is well and truly released and much anxiety has given way to excitement as we now have a book of the Unforgiven which the Lion may be proud of.  Some magnificent new units are now available for the Unforgiven. We are now well on to the final phase of the event and also paralleled by an exemplary participation in the Librarium painting Challenge 2013.

Additional White Pearls may be earned in this final phase. The options are such that someone commencing right now can in fact earn all sic white pearls if they plan their strategy correctly. Details are listed below in the "How to earn additional white pearls" section.

 A completion rate of 83%  phenomenal achievement accompanied by the decisive victory looming ahead for the Dark Angels in the LPC 2013 as the total number of completed oaths have overtaken all but two of the other forums' total oaths.

 

As we move on to this final phase the challenge is three fold:

 

1. Achieve a near 100% completion rate for the months of February 2013.

 

2. Achieve a decisive victory in the LPC 2013 well before the end of the event in MArch, preferably at the end of February.

 

3. To maximise the achievment of Black Pearls amongst all aprticipants which now stands at 126.

 

Let us keep the faith in our primarch and our brothers in the legion. Let us surge until the sword is reforged! Let us embrace the newrecruits and encourage them to earn the six white pearls towards redempton.

As we move ahead with this competition it falls to me to thank everyone for their participation, regardless of whether you completed your oath or not. The ultimate goal is for everyone to try and complete something that you have had left behind for a while or motivate you to start something new. The participation has been absolutely fantastic so far and far greater than had been anticipated... though the Inner Circle does aniticipate much!!!.

 

HOW TO WIN EXTRA WHITE PEARLS

 

COMPLETE ALL OATHS & A SPECIAL TASK:
Complete an additional oath for each of your empty monthly slots in the standard fashion (DA Codex/FW legal units) and when complete you will be given a specific special task to complete in order to ratify those as being accepted.
Award: You will be awarded a single white pearl for each of your monthly oaths once the special task in completed.

COMPLETE TEN ADDITIONAL OATHS:
This option recognizes the efforts of some of our battle brothers who have completed oath after oath within each month for no particular reward other than their love of our legion.
Award: If you have completed a total of ten additional oath during the whole duration of the event (The initial oath for each month does not count) then you are eligible to be awarded a SINGLE White Pearl to be used to fill up any slot in your banner, past or future.

Note: Only one additional White Pearl may be earned for the whole event by making additional oath. Making more than 10 additional oaths will gain you nothing more. 
Example: If you had vowed 3 additional vows in after completing your September oath and did so again in October and December and then in January made a single additional vow, you will receive one white pearl each for the months of September through January for a total of five white pearls. You will also in addition receive a sixth white pearl as you had made a total of 10 additional vows leaving you free in February.

CHAPTER FLEET ASSETS: (Battle Fleet Gothic):
This is an incentive to those admirals who wish to participate in this event. You may make an oath of any BFG legal Dark Angel fleet assets as a normal oath.
Award: If you complete a sum total of 1000 points worth of Fleet Assets (BFG) during the duration of the event, then you will be eligible for an additional White Pearl.
Note: You may earn one additional white pearl for every 100 points of painted BFG fleet assests.

Example: If you pledge a Battlebarge for December and a Battlebarge and Strike Cruiser for January, you will received one white pearl each for the months of December and January and a third white pearl for reaching 1000 points.

STRATEGIC WARFARE: (EPIC Armageddon) :
This is an incentive to those Lord Commander with the love of Strategic Warfare who wish to participate in this event. You may make an oath of any EPIC Armageddon legal Dark Angel units/assets as a normal oath.
Award: If you complete a sum total of 1000 points worth of Strategic Units (EPIC Armageddon) during the duration of the event, then you will be eligible for an additional White Pearl.
Note: You may earn one additional white pearl for every 100 points of painted EPIC strategic assests.

Example: If you pledge a command detachment for December up to 500 points with transports and attachments and a tactical detachment and a terminator detachment for January, you will received one white pearl each for the months of December and January and a third white pearl for reaching 1000 points.

THE GREAT CRUSADE (FW Betrayal Crusade Army List):
This is your chance to delve in to the realms of the 30th millennium and the Dark Angels Legion. You may make an oath consisting of any legal unit in the Space Marine Legion Crusade Army List described in FW’s Betrayal Book. Models must be painted in legion colours and period equipment.
Award: Recognizing the cost and accessibility of FW’s heresy Era models, this will reward the participant with an additional White Pearl for every full strength squad, squadron or single vehicle completed in legion colours and period wargear. This will be in addition to the white pearl received for the month for completing the same squad. A maximum of three additional white pearls may be earned in this manner all of which can be awarded in the same month or in different months depending on when the participant completed them.
Example: If you complete a 10 man assault squad in December using FW miniatures and a 5 man Cataphract Terminator Squad also in December, both in legion colours and markings you will receive one white pearl for the December oath of two units but also receive two white pearls one for each HH era unit. If you do the same in January you will receive another white pearl for January but only one more white pearl for completing a HH era unit as you can only ever earn a maximum of three additional white pearls in this manner.

BROTHERHOOD OF ANGELS:
This is an opportunity to develop and display your own unforgiven chapter. You must make an oath consisting of a single squad or character in your DIY chapter coours which will earn you a single white pearl. However if you submit a fully developed chapter history similar to the standards displayed in the Brotherhood of Angels thread to an acceptable standard (by the Inner Circle) then that effort will net you TWO EXTRA White Pearls to use as you wish! If you accomplish this you will in addition earn the right to wear the Chaptermaster banner.

PARTICIPATION IN THE LIBRARIUM PAINTING CHALLENGE 2013:
The simple expediency of making your oaths in the LPC2013 at the same time you make your oaths for the PtR will earn you an additional White Pearl. This is in particular important especially for any new recruits who have a few empty sockets to fill We have just two months in which to earn all your six White pearls.

NOVO CODICIUM ANGELES TENEBRAE:
Completing an oath that consists of one of the new units listed in the Codex Dark Angels will earn you an additional White Pearl. To receive this the unit must be a full strength unit (Not a combat squad etc). The units that would earn you such an additional white pearls are as follows:
Deathwing Command Squad; Deathwing Knights Squad; Ravenwing Command Squadron Ravenwing Black Knights Squadron; Ravenwing landspeeder vengeance; Ravenwing Landspeeder Dark Shroud; Ravenwing dark talon; Ravenwing Nephilim Jet Fighter. You will receive one White pearl for making the oath and one additional white pearl for each of the above units you complete.

OVERVIEW: The Path to Redemption which began as a low level attempt at motivating players to complete their unpainted models armies in the wake of the hugely successful ETL 2012 appears to have gathered a momentum of it's own and is now in its final third. The Inner Circle has been awed by the spirit of participation and level of enthusiasm so far. The intractable spirit of the unforgiven will be tested time and again as we endeavour to continue this longest of all events and reach it's conclusion.

A total of 82 battle brothers made oaths of moment and stepped on to their Path to Redemption in September. Amongst these 53, half a company strength completed their oaths achieving what appears to be the highest completion rate of any painting event in this forum of 64.6%. Seven lauded souls amongst them completed more than one oath.

VETERANS: Amongst the 53 who completed their September oaths all but five continued their journey in October (48 battle Brothers). Of the 48 participating veterans 39 managed to remain on their journey and complete their oaths (81.3%). In November 47 veterans of the previous months participated and in December a total of 49. Finally in January 52  veterans retruned to walk the path. This is a testament to the spirit of this forum and I am very much proud to be part of it. I hope they will continue their journey to the end of times.

NEOPHYTES: These determined brethren were joined by 15 newcomers in December who not only exhibitd enthusiasm but also skill with the brush. Eleven of the 15 (73%) completed their oaths with one redeeming himself for all the previous months as well. In January, despite the release of our most holy tome of the unforgiven only 5 neaphytes were recruited.

REDEMPTORS: Those who stray from the path, fail their duty or dishonour their chapter should be despised but not dismissed.... those amongst them who have the strength od spirit to redeem themselves are true Sons of Jonson. A total of 29 battle brothers failed to complete their journey in September (35.3%), 13 in ocotber, 10 in November, 14 in December and 10 in January. Within the ranks of these brothers four returned to redeem themselves in october and another four in November, thogh many fell on the field of battle. In December SanRf.za excelled himself by redeeming himself for all previous months and in January all four redemptors completed and redeemd themselves! Well done indeed!.

THE FUTURE:  We of the Inner Circle hope to get all participants of the Path to Redemption to earn their Black pearl. Be creative and look at your armies. There may be a five man squad that required reinforcing; your terminators who need new bases; Your characters who may need refitting; Perhaps time for that Heavy Weapons squad or Scouts detatchment; How about weathering your armoured vehicles? There is much you can do to elevate the existing quality of your armies without spending a single dollar on new models while creating some of the new units being listed in the Codex DA. This is also your chance to rework your fleets, your EPIC armies, your FW models of the Horus Heresy and develop your DIY Unforgiven chapter history. There are many varied ways to earn additional white pearls in these last two months while supporting our push in the LPC 2013. So let the angels gather once more on the path to redemption.

Fellow Unforgiven, as the Path to Redemption event enters its final phase I would like you all tor eview your achievements to ensure that the data stacks at the Rock are as accurate as possible.

 

The recent upgrade to the B+C systems unfrotunately caused a major break in the seamless flow of the event and we contnue to have issues in relation to tables and multiple links ina thread. As you may have noticed, the list of january oaths did not contain the usual links to the relevant post of each contender. Everytime I tr to do that somehow the thread gets ciorrupted and displays as html. Another issue was the creation of tables. You may note that all the summary tables completed at the end of each of the previous months disintegrated in to a combination of html and bbcode and had to be deleted.

 

Hence a link to a PDF of all your efforts. Some of you have already achieved enough White Pearls to be awareded.
