You can always ally the Dark Angels to your current ultramarine force.

Never.

My Ultramarines aren't taking the field with traitors.

That's what Dark Vengeance is. A box of traitors.

hehehhehe sig'd

Really loving the paint job. Nice work. How did you do that battle damage?

-Tarvik

Thanks

Its pretty simple. Assuming the fluff is correct and that ceremite is grey what I tend to to is paint a shape in grey. If the damage is large then paint it darker at the top.

The trick then is to assume lights coming from above and paint the tops of the damage with a thin black line (for shadow) and then the bottom of the damage with your ultimate highlight colour (in my case ultramarine blue mixed with skull white - or whatever its called now)

I did try the damage in boltgun metal before but it looks awful. The silver catches the light and spoils the dark over/light under effect.

If anyone wants pics I'll get stage by stage on my next DV termi. Its undercoated and going to get airbrused in an hour

You have no idea how happy you make me whenever you say anything. I am so glad someone 'gets it', as it were.

:D

Spent a long time dialing in to the correct wavelength.

What is this from? Is it a Horus Heresy short story I missed?

Aye, Rules Of Engagement. It's not bad. It has a few major issues, but it's a bazillion times better than the Ultramarines novels he wrote.

I must admit, The Terminators have come out looking like Ultramarines Termiantors, and the Company Master and Librarian look like they might have the potential to actually fit in.

I'd say the Master and Librarian both do look good, but not "right", IMO.

The Master's cloak being armor plate blue, instead of red, white, or a Company color, throws me off, but it does look like he could potentially blend in amongst the Honour Guards.

And Librarians wear golden-yellow/yellowish-white/white robes. Red robes tend to be the mark of the Priesthood Of Mars, so, to my eyes, this guy looks like the least augmented Techmarine ever.

I ended up picking up the last LE Dark Vengeance set my FLGW had to help out my friend (who runs it). I guess I'll have to see what I can do with these weirdos.

UltraRich and NYM468 love your work all looking very good, and I am loving the battle damage.

I've painted my libby with red robes for two reasons, 1st red hides the icon removal a lot easier than white, and 2nd I uses this libby as a allied mephsiton from the blood angels with my BA codex counting as the

Ultramairne 8 coy (just and excuse to paint up raven, baal preds and libby dreads in ultramarine colours), Also I can just say to my oppenet the red libby there his is Mep/BA libby who is an allied attachment.

Also have not read anywhere, were they state that the norm is whit or yellow robes in any of the codex, but I think the eavy metal team just did that for contrast (eg tec/red, chap/black, libby white) but I am glad to be wrong, (ps i love painting red robes way more then painting white I have 4 other libby all with white robes and white is a :D )

Ive started work on Mr Bunny today

To make him more UM Ive done the following

Remove bunny ears

Move sensor from middle of head to the right

Remove logo off helmet

Remove angel from leg

Remove incense ball (replaced with symbol once GS'd)

Remove feathers from behind skull symbol

Remove left shoulder pad and replaced with FW termi pad.

Heres a quick update on the latest conversion

My new sergeant is about done but needs a few details like the sword doing.

Another one Im working on is one of the duplicated Termies. Ive done a body swap and changed the head. I think its my favourite of the set now.

Those Ultra Vengeance Termies look more than good, Ultrarich :P

I had been thinking, from my WD perusals, that the Termie sergeant was a mini that should not have been done, as it looked too clunky. You have made that mini into a great one.

Thanks guys for the comments

Im about there but Im a sloooooooow painter (mainly due to the kids) but I keep grabbing chances

This ones about done with the exception of some of the final highlights and the bolter

I think the body swap went well. All it needed was a small cut to the back of the head section to make the bits fit and then a bit of a GS fill.

Group shot

(A SH mini snuck in to make the numbers up)

Here a simple conversion of the DV chappy.

All I did was scape of the DA symbol of with a modeling knife.

I left the DA icon on the staff as it dosen't look out of place to me

Should have assembled his body and Liquid GS the join of his cloak but other than that he looks good.

So far I have convert all the DV DA into ultramarines just finishing of painting the bikes as a command squad, and the captain on foot into a libby and there all done.

CC welcomed

Oh the tragedy of DVDA. :P

Nice work though. I figured it can't be terribly hard to convert them.

As I declared long before this set got confirmed, this is the STUPIDEST starter set they've ever made.

The models are brilliant, but they're only good for Dark Angels or Chaos players.

I thought about this a bit. Initially, before release it seemed like a bad idea to make the Marines chapter specific. Ultimately I'm leaning towards the idea that Games Workshop intentionally designed Dark Vengeance this way so that it didn't sell as well as AOBR. This makes some sense from the perspective that AOBR was a waste of resources, with the extras like dice, and rulebooks, templates, etc, being discarded. After all, this way you only have the need for one Dark Vengeance unless you're playing Dark Angels, and not a half dozen of them. GW, in theory, sells more of their higher priced model sets to the actual target market, and for sets like Dark Vengeance, primarily to new players.

Just a quick WIP. This guy hasn't had any extra parts added, i just scraped off the Dark Angel with an exacto knife. Took about 15 minutes. :)

I bought the three bikers off a mate for a fiver, planning on getting the whole DV set for myself after Christmas.
