Random Heresy Era Death Guard

Hey everyone. I painted this guy up as a distraction from my many painting projects including my more traditional Death Guard. It was more an attempt to do as little as possible with highlights and being precise with layering and see what I could get away with by using washes and weathering powders. I am not doing anything further with this scheme at the moment but if you want a tutorial let me know.

Really characterful and I love the naturalness and muted tones. I don't think the eyes are working at the moment but I also don't have any suggestion either. I looked at this figure zoomed out and I have to say your workmanship is excellent.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the feedback. I went with yellow eyes because thats what I did on my green Death Guard.

As for a tutorial I will break down the main colors.

The White

Base coat Dheneb Stone

Wash Devlan Mud

Layer Rotting Flesh leaving the shaded Dheneb Stone in the recesses. It wasn't too solid of a coat which was fine with me as it made it look slightly dirty. I just made sure the brush strokes were going vertically so it looks like its "dripping".

Highlight with Rotting Flesh/Skull White mix.

I then used washes of:

1. Devlan Mud

2. Devlan Mud/Thraka Green mix

3. Casandora Yellow

4. Vermin Brown

These were painted on selectively and usually to look like it was dripping.

The Metal

Base coat Boltgun Metal

Wash heavily with Devlan Mud

Quickly highlight with Chainmail around edges

Wash selectively with Vermin Brown to simulate rust

The Green

Base coat with Catachan Green

Wash with Devlan Mud

Highlight with Catachan Green/Rotting Flesh

The Rust

I used Forge World Rust weathering powder and applied it liberally to all of the metal areas and selectively to everywhere else

I also used some FW Black Soot weathering powder around the backpack exhausts.
